Margarine May
Be Substitute
PORTLAND W - The head of
the Portland school lunch program
reported Tuesday that school cat
eteries may be serving margarine
soon.
Miss Ann Brownlie, lunchroom
coordinator, said she had b ?n
notified that only one more ship
ment of surplus butter, acquired by
the federal government in support-i"-
dairy prices, will be received.
The new shipment is due in April.
Present butter supplies will not
last until then.
When the butter supply is ex
hausted, most schools will serve
margarine because they cant ai
ford butter, she said.
New President at
Pacific U Installed
FOREST GROVE m Pacific
University Inaugurated a new pres

He is Charles J. Armstrong, for
mer vice president of Whitman
College at Walla Walla.
In his inaugural speech, Arm

liberal arts education and said that
religious teaching should not be
abandoned.
Fifty-seven students received
bachelor degrees and two received
master degrees in commencement
exercises.
You'll want to make half a doz
en of these "good luck" aprons
as they are so easily, so quickly
made! A simple apron is made
gay and colorful by means of the
color transfer of Pennsylvania
Dutch motifs in brilliant green
and scarlet. Just iron the motifs
onto the completed apron. Pat
tern also contains an alternative
trim of crocheted flower pots
sprouting bright ric rac flowers
and leaves. A grand apron for
your shower parties, for your
church Bazaars!

WASHINGTON W -President
Kisenhowcr didn't have to say -as
he did "I'm having fun" at
Tuesday night's White House re
ception. His grin made it obvious.
The occasion was the armed
services reception bringing togeth
er many men with whom Kisen
howcr had served during his Jfl
years In the Amy.
The Eisenhowers, he in evening
clothes and she in delicate black
lace nver pink, stood in the Rlue
Hoom, as is the custom, to shake
hands with their guests.
Alter the last of nearly 600 guests
had gone through the receiving
line, aides lined up to form a pas
sageway through which the Eisen
howers usually move toward Ihe
elevator which carries them to
their second floor living quarters.
. The aides stood at proper alien-
; lion, but the President and his
i wife iad gone into the stale dining
room where guests were still chat
tcring. The Eisenhowers paused
repeatedly to greet old friends
again.
