Martin Moshberger, former resident of Woodburn, has been awarded the Legion of Merit medal for services performed in Korea from October 2T, 1952, to Octo ber 15, 1953. Presentation of the medal was made at a recent ceremony at Vancouver Barracks, Wash., where the colonel ts currently serving as deputy post com mander. A veteran of World War II, Col. Moshberger u the son of the late Col. Eugene Moshberger of Woodburn, who served in World War I. A brother. La Drew Moshberger, served in the Army and a sister, Miss Ursula Moshberger, was in the Waves during World War II. The family lived in Woodburn many years, their residence be ing at 693 Hayes street, and the grandparents of the colonel, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mosh berger, were early resident of Woodburn. LOUIS Wl The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports about $20, 000 of the missing Greenlease ransom disappeared from Carl Austin Hall's briefcase between the time of his arrest and the counting of the money at a dis trict police station the following day. Hall, before his execution in the kidnap-slaying of Bobby Green lease, told authorities he had about $20,000 in the briefcast when ar rested Oct. 6. The newspaper, in a copyrighted story in Sunday morning's edi tions, said when two special offi cers counted the recovered money Oct. 7 at the station, the brief case was empty. Less than half the $600,000 ran som paid Hall and his accomplice Mrs. Bonnie Brown Heady, was recovered in two suitcases brought with the briefcase to the station with Hall.
