Today's Menu SUNDAY NIGHT SUPPER California Ham and Lima Casserole Mixed Green Salad Rolls Fruit Gelatin Beverage California Ham and Lima Casserole Ingredients: 2 cups large dry limas, salt, 1 large onion (chop ped), 1 green pepper (chopped), 3 tablespoons bacon drippings or other fat IV4 pound smoked ham (diced), one Jounce can tomato sauce, i cup cooking sherry, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, pepper io uste, 1 clove garlic it desired (minced). Method: Rinse limas and cover with cold water. Soak overnight or Kir 0 10 a hours. Ilring slowly to boil In soaking water. Boil gently 30 minutes to 1 hour, just until tender hut not niushv. Add 2 teaspoons salt toward end of cooking. Drain beans thoronhly. Cook onion and green pepper gently in bacon drippings for 5 minutes. Add ham; cook, stirring often, until ham begins to brown. Add tomato sauce, shcrrv, brown sugar, peprr and garlic; mix well. Genaly stir in brans. Season with salt to taste. Turn into 2-quart cassrrole. Bake, uncovered, in moderate (350 F.) oven 14 hours. Makes 6 servings. Murphy. They spent the holiday period in Pasadena with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil F. Crafts and daughter, Christilee; and with their son, Ken neth Murphy, who also lives at Pasadena. While there, Mrs. Mur phy was honor guest for a large tea for which her dauhgtcr enter tained. Also, in Pasadena, Mrs. Murphy attended a large fashion show at the Huntington Park ho tel with her daughter. After visiting at Pasadena, the Murphys went on to Death Val ley, stopping at Furnace Creek and visiting Scotty's Castle. Later they went to Las Vegas, Nev., stopping at the Flamingo hotel, then on to Hoover dam and Parker dam. Angel The American Le gion auxiliary plans a benefit auc tion for the March of Dimes fund at the next unit meeting, sched uled for February 9. The auction, previously scheduled for the last Tuesday meeting, was postponed due to the small attendance at the meeting on account of the.Gonzaga university Men's Glee "club pre senting their concert here ths same evening. The unit wishes to make a worth while contribution to the polio fund, and every member is asked to bring an article that may be auctioned. Mrs. Blanche Norton, clinic chairman, reported that 18 little children were examined at the well child clinic, Tuesday after noon, at the Legion Memorial building. The examining physician was Dr. W.
