'ft 1 North Marion High Activities HUBBARD The members of the senior class will hear repre sentatives of the state system of higher education present what the various schools of higher learn ing have to offer thq graduates. Representatives will be present from the University of Oregon, Oregon State College, Teacher Train schools (elementary) of Monmouth, Ashland and La Orande, Oregon Institute of Tech nology at Klamath Falls, Wednes day, Feb. 8. The Future Farmers of America chapter at North Marion will hold their ' local public speaking con test Wednesday evening, Feb. 3, at o'clock. The University of Oregon band will present a program at North Marion Union High School Thurs day evening, Feb. 4, under spon sorship of the band-chorus parent club. Wells left for San Francisco Saturday to help care for her new grandson. She will he gone two weeks. "Shirt and tailored Workshop" SILVERTON A crew of painters, mostly volunteer, take time out for a snack at Trinity Lutheran church. Mr. Lewis spoke on the tax equalization problem, and stated that Mr. Quesnel would work in this district for a few days very soon. A report on the March of Dimes program was given by Don Orange, local campaign manager. He stated that two crews of boys collected over $25 Saturday in slightly over two hours by the block of dimes method, and the Mothers March will be taken care of by the Young People's Sodality mem bers. The Legion Auxiliary will soi led funds with a benefit auc tion slated at their Feb. 9 meet ing, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Lacy of tho ML Angel Bakery are again donating a cake to be decorated with money with two prizes offered to the persons guessing nearest .the amount that will decorate the cake by Feb. 1. Murl Anderson will direct the sidewalk project. Featured quests were Vick Withro, treasurer of the Marion county March of Dimes, and his son, Al Withro of Salem. The program was oficially pre sided over by the JayCee presi dent, Bill Hanson, at the Wash ington Irving club rooms. Al Withro supplemented the talks of his father and himself with the showing of colored slides. The speakers disclosed that "for the past five years, every year, the Salem and Silverton areas have received for the care of local polio patients, all money sent in (one half of the intake of dimes donation) and around $18,000 from the national fund.
