Mrs. L. L. Rynearson was call
ed to Portland by the death of
her grandfather, Robert H. Mc-
Namee, at the age ot 101. Mr.
McNamce was born in Jackson
County, Ohio, and at the age of
99 made a trip to Oregon to visit
his grandaughter, who at that
time was a resident of Detroit,
where he made many friends. Bur
ial was in Mountain Grove, Mo.
Mrs. Alva McNamee accompanied
the body of her father-in-law

daughter, Louise, and son Mcr
vin, who have resided in Red
ding, Calif., since selling their
home in Gates last spring, have
returned to Gates to make their
home for a time. They arc rent

The Schneiders have moved
to Clovcrdale, Calif., where they
have been living since before

ers sawmill. The move was
made so they would be near
their daughter, Mrs. J. F. Don
ney, wife of one of the saw
mill owners. They have lived
in and near Dallas for the past
15 years, where he followed the
line of building constructor.
Two boys, one a parolee from
the Boys' Training School at
Woodburn, arc missing from
the home of Mrs. Dora Horner
of Falls City, since Sunday,
Tony Ncufeld, Polk county
sheriff, states.
A billfold and $2.1 also arc
missing from the- Horner home.

FALLS CITY-Word has been
received of the death of Calvin
Shepherd who lived in the Bridge
port community many years ago,
his death having occurred at his
home in Corvallis.
Mr. Shepherd was a brother-in-
law of Elmer Guthrie of this city
and Mrs. Lillith Guy of Dallas.
Funeral was Tuesday at Mc-
Hcnry Funeral Home in -Corvallis.

Cub Scouts Aid In
Woodburn Polio Drive
WOODBURN The sixth an
nual "Mile of Dimes" was put on
Sat., Jan. 23, by the Woodburn
Cub Scouts on Front St., and
netted a total of S179 for the
polio fund. Twenty-four Cubs, as
sisted by two Boy Scouts, worked
on Front St. from 1 to 4 p.m.

mumps. Members of the Henry
Goode family are reported to be
down with them, and it is feared
that Lea Feller, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Barney Feller, may
have the mumps also.
Mrs. Lin Cromwell has . re
ceived word that her brother,
Harold Peterson of Albany, has
finally been released from The
hospital. While conlined to the
hosnital for two montns ne un-,
dcrwent three operations and
lost 70 pounds. He is able to be
up for short periods of time now,
but is in bed mostly.

Mr. and Mrs. Gale Bare spent
the weekend at Ft. Lewis, Wash
ington, visiting his sister and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron
Wilson. Mr. Wilson is stationed

baby have moved into the Lin

road. Mr. Hass is employed by

Mrs. Hershcl Driever has been
confined to her home with a se
vere attack of the flu, but is re
ported to be somewhat better.

After spending several days in
Hutchinson Hospital in Oregon
City for a check-up, Mrs. Louis
Racette is . staying with her
daughter, Mrs. Raymond Gilles
and is reported to be improving.
Friday evening guests in the
Raymond Gilles home were Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Racette and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Sid Hendricks
have just returned from a five
day trip to Redmond where they
visited on the ranch of his broth
er, E. C. Hendricks. The morn
ing they arrived in Redmond, it
was five below zero, then the
weather cleared and it was nice.
However, it was very difficult
coming back over the pass. The
wind was blowing and it was
srfcwing, and Mr. Hendricks re
ports at times he couldn't even
see the front of the truck.
Donald Extension Unit held its
regular monthly meeting at the
home of Mrs. Francis Ryan with
Mrs. Jack Bush assisting as host
ess. The topic for the day was
"Simple Home Repairs" and
Mrs. Ed Miller and Mrs. Norman
Rciling were the demonstrators.
The next meeting will be Feb.
9 at the home of Mrs. Norman
Rciling and will begin at 1
o'clock. The topic for the day
will be "Keeping Up with Tex
tiles", and the demonstration
will be given by the Marion
County Home Extension Agent,
Pauline Schaplowsky. Mrs. L.
Peterson will act as co-hostess
with Mrs. Rciling.
At present the unit is spon
soring a furniture refinishing ,
workshop at the' home of Mrs. j
O. C. Lester. The workshop con-j
sists of four lessons from ten to i
four, and is under the direction
of Mrs. Lester and Mrs. Leighton
Whitsett.

DRUNK DRIVER FINED
ALBANY Geno Jess Luckini,
25, RFD 3, Scio. pleaded guilty in
district court Monday to a drunk
driving charge and was fined $175,
in addition to prospective loss of
his driver's license. Luckini was
arrested on U.S. highway 20 Satur
day by a state patrolman and was
admitted to $200 bail.
