The unexplained dismissal of Ihe 49-year-old writer was con firmed by Pettus Tuesday but he would not discuss the reason. The paper has carried a number of appeals for funds to aid the five persons convicted here in October and sentenced to five years in prison. Pettus also faces an additional three years for contempt of court (luring the ux-month-long trial in Federal Court. He and the others are free on $20,000 bail.
