Stayton Chief
Enlists in
Army Reserves
Joining the Army Reserve!
here last week was the chief of
police of Stayton, Everett E.
Norfleet, enlisted in the reserves
s a private first class.
Norfleet, who last August com
pleted a three-year enlistment
In the Oregon National Guard
with Company D, 162nd Infan
try regiment, Salem, durlnr.
World War II served for aboit
year and a half with the U.Si.
Navy. .
Three other men were enlisted
In the army reserves last week
and assigned to headquarters ard
headquarters battery of the 929th
field artillery battery.
The trio are Pfc. Theodore IV.
Anderson, 1224 Chemeketa stnet,
Salem, Pfc. Clayton S. Jacobs,
795 Churchdale avenue, Salem;
and Cpl. Alan R. HalloweU, 700
South Church street, Salem.
The 929th Is part of the 104th
division, Army Reserve unit,
which presently Is conducting a
recruiting drive in Oregon.
Oregon Posse
Has Election
Ralph Stangeby was re-elected
captain of Oregon Mounted Posse,
Governor's Guard, Saturday night
In a rrweting at theMarion Hotel.
Most other officers were re-elected,
including Jack Lindeman as
first lieutenant and Bus Youngquist
second lieutenant in charge of men.
Sherm Bostrack was elected second
lieutenant in charge of mounts. The
parade group will elect a second
lieutenant from their own number.
The Posse elected Walter Zoscl as
representative to the Willamette
Valley Horseman's Association for
three years. Glen Conklin, Ivan
Sutton and Tom Allen were elected
members of the board of directors.

4-H Leaders Meet
At Keizer Thursday

will meet at Keizer School audi
torium Thursday evening, Janu
ary 21. A conflict of schedules
at Central Howell brings about
the-change as announced by Bill
Williams, president.

Conference delegation list that
was announced last week include

land, will all be staying at the
Benton Hotel, in Corvallis.

going to Corvallis next week at
the meeting Thursday night. Any

ference in Corvallis from January
26 to 28 should be at the meet
ing Thursday evening at Keizer.
North Howell
NORTH HOWELL The North
Howell home economics club met
at the hall Tuesday, Jan. 12, with
a 1-30 dessert luncheon.
The business meeting was con
dueled by the new chairman, Mrs.
Leo Peterson.
The club decided to hold a rum
mage sale at the hall Tuesday,
Feb. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The hostesses for the day were
Mrs. Florence Espc and Mrs. Amy
Beer.
Mrs. Andrew Hall has been
bedfast with the flu for a week,
but is slowly improving.
Mrs. William Addie is in the
Salem General hospital where she
underwent eye surgery Wednes
day She will be in the hospital
for a week. While she is away her
daughter, Mrs. Charles Waltman
of Hebo, is staying at Me Addie

Mrs. Lewis Sawyer entertained
the ladies of her circle from the
Christian church of Silverton at
her home on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at
a dessert luncheon.
