Salem Heights Mrs. Wally
Ifurdock entertained a ctoud of
parents of the members of the
South Salem Junior Saddle club
on Thursday evening at her Croi-
san Creek home.

Miss Lee Bride Sunday at
Blue and White Wedding
St Paul's Episcopal church was
decor.ted with white Calla lilies,
snapdragon and carnation! for
the white and blue wedding of
Miss Othelene Lee, daughter of
Mrs. Othel Elmer Lee, and Wil
liam Douglas Colvard, son of Mrs.
R. L. Colvard of Pendleton, on
Sunday at 8 olcloock. The Rev.
- George H. Swift performed the
Ceremony,

and Frank Stufer Jr. and they
lighted the taper. Ronald Craven

The bride wore a Chantilly lace
ever satin wedding dreaa of prin
cess style tapering into a full skirt
at the bottom. The abort all-lace
bolero jacket waa made with a
stand up Peter Pan collar and was
fashioned with long aleeves. The
veil was fingertip length and
cascaded from a pearl and rhine
Itonea coronet. The bride carried
a white orchid on a prayer book.
An uncle, William F. MacDonald,
gave the bride in marriage.

maid of honor and wore an ice
blue ballerina length dress spark
led with rhinestone dust She
wore matching shoe and hat,

quet of white camillias. Miss Sue

Spaulding, Portland and Mr.
Douglas Rainca were (he bride
maids. All were dressed like the
maid of honor, and carried

SALEM HEIGHTS The Little
Garden club of Salem Height
met on Thursday afternoon for
a dessert at the home of Mrs.
Lyle Bayne on East Madrona
avenue. Assisting the hostess
was Mrs. C. A. Kelts.
Mr. Kenneth Zwicker presid
ed t the business meeting. A
committee was appointed to work
on a schedule for the chrysan
themum show for next year.

ton. Reinstated as an active
member was Mrs. Psul Griebe-

Chicken Pie with Yam Biscuits
Ingredient: tt cup butter or
margarine, Vt cup flour, 1 cup
chicken stock. 1 cup milk, 1 tea
spoon salt, H teaspoon pepper, 3
cups diced cooked chicken, 1 cup
cooked diced carrots, t cooked
imall white onions, 1 tablespoon
minced parsley, 1 cup lifted flour,
1 teaspoon baking powder, Yt tea
spoon salt, IV, cups mashed cook
ed yams or one No. 2 can (drained
and mashed) yam, hi cup short
ening tmelted), 1 egg (well beaten).
Method: Melt butter in saucepan
over low heat; blend in V, cup
flour. Add chicken, stock and
milk and cook and stir until thick
ened. Stir in 1 teaspoon salt, pep
per, chicken, carrot, onion and
parsley. Turn into greased m
quart casserole. Sift 1 cup flour,

Tri-Y Interclub
Council Sets Project
It was decided br the Tri-Y
Interclub council to ask all the I
ciuos to raise S800 toward til
ing of the new YWCA' gym
nasium floor. Food sale, dance
and rummage ale were some of
the projects luggested. Individ
ual projects such as washing cars
and baby-sitting were ideas of
the Junior High Y-Teens.
Finishing the gym floor is of
interest to both the Y-Teens and
Tri-Y groups, because thev wish I
to stage their special activities
there. The new gym will be used
for organized classes, social danc
ing lessons for teen-agers, square
dances and after-game activities.
Later. Julia Berganti club tour
ed the new building and voted
to sponsor a box social to raise
money. A sum of $40 already
ha been contributed by Anne
Guthrie Tri-Y towards tables.
This money wa received from
it semi-formal dance in early
December.
West Salem Club
To Aid Polio Drive
At the West Salem Woman' i
