WOODBURN An adult eve
ning class course in crafts, plan
ned to provide work with the ap
plication of original designs to
glass etching, metal etching, foil
metal tapping, paster carving,
leather, textile printing, plastics
and wood, will begin Thursday,
Jan. 14, at 7 p.m. in Woodburn
high school has been announced
b Frank Doerfler, superintend
ent of Woodburn schools.
Under the direction of Miss
Jean Sutherland, instructor in
art for general extension divi
sion, the crafts course provides
two hours of undergraduate
credit and may be used on three
or four year elementary teacher
certification.
As the course is of consider
abe general interest registration
may be made on a non-credit
basis by any one interested
Registration begins with the
initial class meeting and fees are
based on M per credit hour plus
a $8 art class fee. Total fee for
the cour.se which provide 30
hours of instruction, is $18.
Adult evening classes are tin
der aupervision of the depart'
ment of state-wide services of
Oregon's stete system of higher
education-general extension divi
sion. Classes are scheduled in
about 70 Oregon communities.

hish school was broken into Sat
urday night sometime between
6 30 and 8:30 p.m. by one or
more vandals who entered by
way of the boiler room. The
door louvres were pried loose
which enabled the culprit to
reach Inside and unlock the door.
Eight different rooms were
broken into probably in a search
for money, by breaking the glass
in the doors. About $6 was tak
en from various desks and draw
ers which were ransacked, the
most of it from the library. No
other damaee waa done
B. A. Bailey discovered the
breakage at about 8:30 p.m.
when he went out to the school.
No effort was made to enter the
vault but this would have been
useless as no money is kept In
the vault at night hut all is tak
en to the bank each day.
No cluea have been found as
to the vandals.
