Necessity for a full-time school administrator at the union high school, superintendent Fox ex plained, arises from the fact that when the senior high school and ninth grade are combined as a four-year high school in the new building now in process of con struction, the student body will number not less than 1050. Bethel Names FU Delegates ' BETHEL Elected as delegates to the state convention of the Oregon Farmers Union at the January meeting) of Bethel local were Jake Neufeidt and Walter Baker. Alternates elected were Ralph Wilson and Nile W. Hil- born. The convention will be held in the VFW Hall in Salem, Feb. 11, 12 and 13. Bethel local's newly elected president. Warren Creech, con ducted the meeting. It was brought out that Creech served four years as president when Bethel local was organized 23 years ago. It was the second local formed in Marion County. Central Howell local being the first local and Mt. Angel local was the third organized. Jack Wells, vice-president of Buena Vista local, was the guest speaker; giving a talk on his ex periences in Bolivia in the inter ior of S. A., as an international exchange student. He showed a collection of colored slides and answered questions. Mrs. James Laudcrback and Mrs. Ralph Wilson were in charge of serving. The budget meeting will be held in February. He is being detained in the Linn county jail for lack of $2000 bond. It may be in operation before July 1, the original date set for completion. The announcement was mad; in the mayor's review of civic accomplishments during 1953. The 70 per cent completion mark included both primary treatment plant and a second contract for construction of -a secondary filter unit. The mayor stressed the po lice department's safety pro gram which has resulted in three straight years without a traffic fatality within the city. He pointed out that mercury vapor street lights have, re placed the old type in nearly all sections of the city. The program 'will be completed litis year, lie said. The current population sur vey, taken monthly here and' in 229 other areas throughout the country, provides up-to-date national figures on em ployment and unemployment. This information it used by business and government for analysis of current labor force I conditions. Supervisor Rainboth point ed out that information furn ished to the Census Bureau concerning individual persons is accorded confidential treat ment under the law and only statistical totals are published. Interviews for the current po pulation survey in this area are handled by Opal L. Nieswander and Robert H. Treupel. Woodburn PTA Gives Program WOODBURN Sixteen men of the Woodburn Parent-Teacher association presented the pro gram at the regular meeting Tuesday night at the Washing ton school which included an humorous novelty skit of a cir cus animal parade. Specialty acts were presented by M. G. Henderson and Dr. A. K. Guild. Mrs. Ralph Pickering presid ed over ' the business session which followed the program. Mra. Walter Taylor gave a re port on the Marion county PTA council meeting Dec. 9 at Moni tor which she and Mrs. Picker ing attended. In the report she stated that volunteer workers were requested by the council from each unit in the county to assist at the state convention to be held at Salem In April.
