The regular meeting of the
Keizer Lion's Auxiliary, will
be held Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. at the
Gordon Bressler home at 4235

The Keizer Lion's Auxiliary
will sponsor a rummage sale,
Jan. 16, in Keizer. The pro
ceeds from the sale will go to
the Lion's club building fund
for the Keizer civic auditor
ium. The Home Extension club
met with Mrs. Max Kleman of
390 Chemawa Road on Tues
. day, Jan. 5, for an all day
- meeting. The demonstrations
for the day were on home re
pairs. Mrs. Fred McCall and
Mrs. Roy Cheek were select
ed to attend the workshop on
refinishing of furniture, which
is being held at the Mayflower
hall in Salem. Mrs. Phillip T.
Andregg of 4715 Filmore, will
have the next meeting.
There will be a card party
- at the Grange Hall on Tuesday,
Jan. 12, at 8 p.m. A free lunch
and prizes are given.
Immunization of children at
Cummings school will be on
Wednesday, Jan. 13 at S a.m.
The regular well child clinic
will be held at ' the Keizer
Community church Jan. 19

The Keizer PTA will be held
Thursday. Jan. 14 at the Kei
zer school auditorium.
The Keizer Community
church is making progress in
the building program. They
have completed the rest rooms,
and have tiled a new depart
ment room which will be ready
for use in another month. This
work is all voluntary by the
men of the cnurcn.
The Dine and Do club will
meet Jan. 14 for a dessert
luncheon at 1 o'clock, at the
home of Mrs. M. C. Green at
685 Dearborn Ave.
The Missionary Society of
the Keizer Community church
will have an all day meeting
Jan. 12 at the home of Mrs.
Hugh Adams at 4090 No. River
Road. They are to work on
quilts, baby clothes, and
Christmas cards. Mrs. J. L.
Crouch will be co-hostess.

The colored sound film, "A
People Without Fear," wiU be
shown at Jason Lee Methodist

o'clock. The film portrays the
work of the church around the
world as carried on by many of
the major denominations in
their cooperative enterprises
and is the visual aid to the inter
denominatioaal study course by
Charles Ranson on "The Life
and Task of the Church Around

Reserves Get Scores
In Shooting Matches
Salem Marine Reserves this
week received the results of
their 10th pistol and rifle
matches.
The Salem men, who are
members of Third 153 mm Gun
Battery, in the pistol match
met the Eighth Engineer com
pany of Portland, which won
the match with a score of 1,068.
The score of the Salem team
was 884.
Sgt. Delbert J. Ditter was
high score man for Salem In
the pistol match with his score
265.
Members of the 36th Spe
cial Infantry company, Butte,
Mont, rifle team forfeited the
match to the Salem team.
In the pistol matches held
to date the Salem team has
won six matches and lost four.
They have won five and Inst
five of the rifle matches. Two
more matches remain to be
fired.

ALBANY The Albany Junior
Chamber of Commerce Wednes
day went on record as being "ci
fidally opposed" to the "ped
dlers' ordinance" now under study
by the retail division of the Al
bany Chamber of Commerce. The
group made it clear, however,
that their opposition was di-ect-ed
only toward the present ordi
nance because of its "doubtful
merit"
Thornton to Talk
To Unitarians
Speaker at the Salem Uni
tarian Fellowship on Sunday
will be Attorney General Rob
ert Y. Thornton. His subject
will be "The Myth of Con
trolled Vice."
The worship service will be
conducted by Carlisle Roberts,
president of the Fellowship.
