Beginning January 9, another kind of comedy will be added to
the KPTV Saturday night program calendar ... the one and only
Spike Jones. .......
Spike will headline the 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. segment formerly
occupied by BONINO. Spike will be backed by his Musical Depre
ciation contingent among them Helen Grayco, Freddie Morgan,

Mrs. Emily i. Jordan, lite real
dent of Salem who died at a rest
borne at Brooks Wednesday.
Rev. Paul Henry of Silverton
will officiate at the arrvics and
interment will be in Beicrest Me
morial Park. Pallbearers will be
six grandsons.
Mrs. Jordan, who waa born
in Greenfield, 111., July 23,
1868, came to Silverton, in Sep
tember, 1948 from Long Beach,
Calif, to make her home with
her son, arl Reed, and his
family. Last March she was
taken to the rest home at
Brooks.
Surviving besides the son
with whom she made her home
are five other sons, Edwin
Reed of Grant, Nebraska, Wil
son Reed of Long Beach, Roy
Reed of Salem, Claude Jordan
of Perria, Calif., and Charlie
Jordan of Long Beach, Calif.;
16 grandchildren, 23 great
grandchildren, one great great
grandchild, aa sister, Effie Hill
of Casper, Wyo.; and brother,

troop 19, of Salem Heights has
been busy, during the holiday
season and many mora events are
planned to start the new year.
The troop .netted $105 on the
Christmas tree selling project
Ton tree seller was Bill Cran-
dall, second, William Rector, and
third, Russell Bartlett Awards
were presented to all of the mem
bers lor troop artlcipation. first
place award, William Rector tie
ing for second place. Bob Wilier
and Bill Crandall; third, John
Meeker.
The troop has been swimming
every Saturday afternoon during
the Scout hour at the Y.M.C.A.
At a junior leaders meeting on
Monday the group mapped its
course for the next five weeks.
Tuesdsy evening was spent in a
basketball game at the Liberty
gym. The troop haa planned to
take a 10-mile hike this month
and the explorers of the troop
plan to akl later this montn.

The St. Mark's Lutheran
congregation will conduct its
annual congregational business
meeting Sunday evening at 7
o'clock at the church, it was n-
nounced by the pastor, the
Rev. John L. Cauble. One of
the outstanding features ot in
terest to members of the church
will be the presentation of pro
gress reports from the numer
ous phases of the church s op
eration. Four new church coun-
cllmen will be elected to fill
the positioni of men whose
terms are expiring. Delegates
to the convention of the Pacific
