Speaker for Club

Woodburn attorney, will be the
guest speaker at the January
meeting of the Woodburn Wom
an's club, Wednesday afternoon,
January 6, at the Woodburn lib
rary. Mr. Brown will talk on
"Wills, Estates and Investments,"
and questions from the floor will
be permitted.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m.
with a no-host luncheon. Mrs. Har
ris Nelson is program chairman
and other members of the com
mittee include Mrs. Russell Hurl
bert, Mrs. E. J. Allen, Mrs. Alvah
Cowan, Mrs. Edgar Crosby and
Mrs. Ray Tyson.

Carlson (Frances Stewart) of

Mrs. Carlson is remembered by
Salem and Silvcrton folk as a
graduate student of Willamette
university and her educational
work locally and in eastern Ore
gon. On Christmas day the group
drove to Beaverton to be with
relatives, at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Francis Wood and Joan and
Richard. Additional guests were
from Portland were Mrs. Eva
Oliphant, and from Silverton,
Mrs. Daisy Wood.

Mr., Mrs. Heffley
Anniversary Feted
Webfoot Honoring Mr. and
Mrs. John Heffley of the Web
foot district on tteir Silver Wed
ding anniversary, a reception
was given from 2 to 5 p.m. Sun
day at the home of a brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Lou
Girod at their Tigard have.
Mr. and Mrs. Heffley were
married December 30, 1928, at
The Dalles. They have one son,
John, Jr., a student at Oregon
State College.
Mrs. Andrew Ward, a sister of
Mrs.' Heffley, served the wed
ding cake, another sister, Mrs.
Wilbur Mallery, Yamhill,
poured. The table at the recep
tion was decorated with silver
sprayed evergreens and the man
tle was decorated with a large
bouquet of white rhrysanthe
mums and carnations and tall
white candles.
A nephew, Andrew Ward, had
charge of the guest book.
There were 75 relatives and
friends present from Dufur, Sa
lem, Independence, St Helens,
Monmouth and Dayton.

Mount Angel Guest speaker
at the next scheduled meeting of
the Catholic Daughters of Amer
ica, Monday evening, January 11,
will be the Rt Rev. Damian Jent
ges, OSB., abbot of Mount Angel
abbey. Abbot Damian served as
chaplain for the CD of A when
he was pastor of St. Mary's
parish. Abbot Damian will talk
on his trip to Rome and other
interesting places he visited dur
ing his recent trip to Europe.
The meeting, beginning at 8
p.m., wil be in the meeting room
of St. Mary's school A social
hour will follow. Mrs. E. G. lin
ger and Mrs. Francis C. Schmidt
will be refreshment hostesses.
