In statements, the men ad mitted forcing a kitchen win dow at the Page Stevens home, 810 D street, Saturday night. One of them climbed through the window and opened a door for the other two. They took a .38 caliber revolver, a wrist watch, food, cigars and candy and socks and a wallet from among gifts under the Christmas tree, they said. Good Cleanup Made On Christmas Mail Although the volume of Christmas mail reaching Salem during the holidays was ex tremely heavy. Postmaster Al bert C. Thursday Deadline Oregon Yets Bonus The deadline for applying for Oregon's bonus for World War II veterans is next Thurs day midnight. Bonus payments, made to 121,092 living veterans and to 4.571 next of kin, total $50 million. The 1953 legislature evtanri. ed the deadline, and 2.400 vet rans have taken advantage of the extension. Seekers for Position Few The number of applications j received to date for the position .of State Civil Service Director ; is somewhat disappointing, A. C. Cammack, chairman of the selection committee for the Ci ivil Service Commission, said today. ' Less than a dozen applica tions have been received and the final day for submitting ap ; plications is only about two weeks off. Applications post marked January IS will be ac cepted.
