CHAPTER 1
THE QUEEN
"Why you mutt be the Dream

But before WUUe could flnlth a

magic of the pill wore oil and be

Instantly the pot waa t lulled
with puppy doff.
The poor queen waa crushed
gainst the aides. Willie's ears
popped off the lid and his tall
vent up the spout.
"There he let" cried the Grem
lin. "Ha It In the prison with
the queen P
They gathered under the shell
and shook their fists with excite
ment. "Carefull" warned the leader
"Watch out for more magic be
may try on us."
But even if Willie had had
more magic he could not have
used It. He could not even draw
a breath he was to crowded In the
pot.
The queen could stand It no
longer. "You are) mashing me I"
She squealed.
Willie leaned and aa ha leaned
the coffee pot turned on its side.

The pot burst open and Willie
apranc out. the queen clinging to

The two Dreamlins snatched
onto Willie's tail as the puppy
pasted through the door.
Willie never stopped. Carrying
the three Dreamlins he ran down
the castle corridor and out the
castle door atraurht to Santa's
umbrella. They didnt" relax until
they were all safely In the um
brella and on the way to Santa
Land.
Then WUUe bur back In exhaui.
Hon while the Dreamlins told
their queen of their long adven
ture to tave her and bow Willie
bad neipea.
The queen said. "What an un
selfish dog!"
Willie heard ner say he was un
selfish and thought, "Now I shall
be able lo fly I"
When they arrived in Banta
Land they found Santa and all
the workers waiting for them.
There was Santai big elfish and
the eight flvmg reindeer, too, lor
it was Christmas eve and soon
Santa mutt take off with his load
of tovs.
Willie climbed out-or the um
brella. "Walt until those reindeer
see me fly!" he thought and be
leaped Into the air.
But alas I Willie still could not
fly.
Santa dug him out of the snow
and rubbed him gently behind
the ears.
I saved the Dreamlin oueen."
moaned Willie. "Wasn't that
fine unselfish thing to do? Why
cant i ny now?-
WiUie.'' said Santa, 'true un
selfishness is something that
grows In the heart I cannot ex
plain H."
"I shall never fly." aald Willie
He gazed longinglv at the rein
deer waiting patiently to fly away
with Santa. "Oh. I did so want to
go with you tonight!" be cried
"You do not have to fly to go
with me." said banta. -ciimo m
the sleigh and we'll ride together.
Hurry now for we must cover the
whole world this night."

prize. Refreshment! were
served following the Christmas
gift exchange, and exchange of
gifts by secret pals.

Brock, Mrs. Boundy, Mrs. Bill

Janet Boundy celebrated her
second birthday with a small
party. Her guests for the after
noon were Tony and Terry
Monaco, and Susan, Michael
and Mitchell Elerath. Judy and
Alan Wise, and Terry Canby
sent gifts but could not attend.
The afternoon closed with the
serving of birthday cake, Jello
and punch.
CAR KILLS MAN
Portland Peter P. Han
sen, 71. was injured fatally by
a car Friday as he crossed the
road in front of the convales
cent home at which he waa
living near here. He was re
turning from a mail box when
the automobile hit him. It was
the 24th traffic death of the
year in Multnomah County out
side the Portland city limits.
