might be an indication of future po

A much enjoyed play was "The Pre
cott Proposals" with Katharine Cornell.
It leemed particularly significant with
its United Nations theme since we had
so recently visited the UN in New York.
The excellent cast did credit to a well
developed plot and both Washington
critics and audiences gave praise to the
production. Secretary and Mrs. Douglas
McKay, who rarely can include a show
In their schedule, attended and thought
the play absorbing and the them espe
cially timely as it emphasized torn of
the tame suggestions mtde by the Presi
dent in his speech to the United Na
tions. While on the United Natloni theme,
I should add that Mr. Oswald B. Lord,
United States Representative to th
United Nations Commission on Human
Rights, was the featured speaker at
luncheon of the Women' Advertising
Club here list week. Mrs. McKay wa
among the four honored guest at th
head table. Mr. Lord reported on the
expressions of hope that she noted
among delegation from other countries
following the Presldent'i speech and
cited what the believed were accom
plishments of the UN in Its several
field of operation.
Washington Is certainly a city of pre
Christmas pirtlet and the calendar I
fairly bulging. While touch of the
old virus that is afflicting a great many
here, from the President's wife to th
letter fry, hit meant tome week-end
