Congratulations are going to

the birth of a baby girl born
at the Salem Memorial hospital
Tuesday evening. The child
weighed six pound five ounces
She has two older sisters and
a brother.
Mrs. Robert Carleton and
children, Larry and Carolyn,
are spending this week with
her husband near Cascade
Locks. They will return home
this weekend and will move
there as soon as they find liv
ing quarters.
The Wednesday afternoon
card club met at the Rebekah
hall with Bertha Allen, Inez
Ring and Eulalia Lyons as
hostesses. A 1:30 dessert lunch
eon was served followed by
several tables of 500. Margaret
Kunkle held the high score,
Garnett Basssett second, and
Berniece Bridges third, and
Dorothy Helmn low.
At the close of the afternoon
their annual Christmas party
and gift exchange was held.
George Huffman with Mr.
and Mrs. Oswald Hirlie of
Gates went to Hermiston over
the weekend to attend a Ma
sonic meeting, where they as-
sisted in confering the M and
M degree upon Mr. Yates.
Donna Huber, who spent sev.
eral days in the Doernbecher
hospital in Portland under ob
servation, was brought home
Wednesday evening. Donna Is
the small daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Donald Huber of Lyons.
Mrs.. Alex Bodeker enter
tained members of the Lyons
Womers Society of Christian
Service at her home Tuesday
afternoon. The room was dec
orated to carry out the Christ
mas thought.
Mrs. Reta Cruson and Mrs.
Frances Cruson was in charge
of the program. Special music
was furnished by Mrs. Aleene
Wilson of Mchama, and Mrs.
Muriel Warner of Turner, who
played electric steel guitars.

hymns were enjoyed by the
group.
It was voted that the society
give $100 toward the ceiling of
the church.

clude the band, chorus and the
Sweet Home Civic Chorus, will
be Friday, Dec. 18, at 8 p.m.;
the four lower grades win
have their program Tuesday
afternoon, Dec. 22. At this
program, treats will Be given
to all children.
Holley grade school Pro
gram will be December 22 at
8 p.m. with a 45-minute pro
gram by the upper grade and
a play by the first, second, and
third grades.

Injured Silverton
Boy Awaits Santa
Silverton Mr. Frank
Conroy, mother of John, five
year ot age, announced that
the child 1 considered serious
ly hurt after the reports of all
preliminary test and aurgery
had been completed, and that
he would have to be at the Sil
verton hospital for more than
a month.
The little boy was struck by
a passing automobile near the
South Water St family -home
earlier in the week, receiving a
fractured leg near the hip
Joint, body bruises, a broken
nose, cuts and lacerations about
the face and head and other
not so serious injuries of both
arms and hands.
John's one wish is that
"Santa Claus can find time to
come to the hospital" Satur
day (December 19), while he is
at the Palace theater.
