WOODMAN, SPARE THAT TREE
Making a shambles of the City League Is the Modern
Woodmen team as they have an eleven game bulge over the
rest of the league. An aU female team is rolling in the league
under the Dyer it Sons Insurance banner and doing' right
weU for themselves, too, as they are currently in aixth place.
Mick's Sign Shop is leading the Commercial league with
a five game lead at this time. Both the City league and the
Commercial are ten team loops while the ladies have a four
team league with Randle OU the pace-setters with a slim one
(am lead.
WE LEARN ABOUT DUCK FINS
Anyone who can average 150 In that game has our deep
respect. Last nite we rolled four games with genlsl Tom
Wood, B & B proprietor, and "shattered" the pins for 85, 123,
127, and then went out of control for a 159 game. Tom aays
he'd like to meet the man who can hit his big ball average
on the smaller pins.
This week we salute the Ray & Wilma's team in the
University Commercial No. 1 league who fired a 1034 scratch
game Thursday night and with their 61 pin handicap wound up
with 1095. Bruce "The Dog" Wilberg led o with 178; Or
vlUe Mull checked in with 200; Lyle Diercks rolled 194;
Butch Ireland amashed out a 256 game and Warren "Rabbit"
Miller anchored with 206. A very nice game In any league.
In the same league, Phil Yoder, a 141 average bowler had
one of those big thrills as he rolled his highest game ever
as he chalked up a 228 effort.
HITTING THE TURKEY BETWEEN THE EYES
One ef the oddest tournaments to come to Salem in
manv years is the t- Turkey Shoot at the Capitol.
Nothing to It (ha-ha). All yon have to do Is roll your
ball between the 4 and the ( plna 10 consecutive times
and the house will give you a 12 pound turkey. Costs a
dollar to enter and ao far seven men end two women have
been given the bird by the house.
Winners are Brownie Valdez, Bob Ryan.' Larry Oslund
