Uential development covering
pttf acrea, got approval Tues
day night from the Salem Plan
ning and Zoning commiuion.
tTae eubdi vision, the biggest
Wver recorded here, U promot
ed by Abrami t Skinner, a
Ml estate firm. It He north
and eait of Macleay road and
Hp of the Four Corneri achooL
for many years the land was
formed by J. C. Caplinger.
! -Cordon Skinner told the
commission that a development
plan covering a 10-year period
has been set up, and the
earliest development, he said,
- aveuld be the area nearest the
kchool. A high standard will
fee maintained, he said, and
his firm will supervise build
pig construction by deed re
striction and mortgage arrange-rnrnts.
I Most homes will be two- or
three-bedroom houses with
double garages. Lot sizes av
eTage 80 by 100 or SO by 120
feet.
VaII streets, said Skinner, will
6? paved and have sidewalks
nri curbs Wells will furnish
titer and formation of a water
lrtrict among property owners
planned
The variances from regular
tone requirements were ap
proved by the commission
Tuesday night. One permits
William R. Roth, 1740 Oxford
street, to build two additional
houses, a one-unit and a two
unit, on property on tha south
side of Oxford east of 16th. It
is an Industrial tone, but the
fact that Roth had started the
development before the new
zoning code was adopted was
taken into consideration.
W. C. Cerain and wife were
voted permission to change a
one-unit dwelling to a duplex
at 346 North 13th. It is an
R-2 zone which permits du
plexes, but the question arose
because tha property la under
the 7000-square-foot require
ment for duplexes.
The commission disapproved
Quinault avenue as the name
for a new street extending from
Center to Fredrick in the east
part of the city. It recom
mended Instead the name 19th
street, since it is between 18th
and 20th.
