ROTARIAN Women have arranged
their Christmas program for
Monday, the event being set
ahead of the usual date because of the
holidays.
A luncheon is arranged for 1 o'clock
at the Golden Pheasant.
Miss Rebecca Hang, student from
Singapore at Willamette university, is
to play piano numbers and will tell of
Christmas in her homeland. Mr. and
Mrs. William Busch are to sing Christ

Tea on Sunday
An event for tomorrow afternoon in
teresting a Urge group will be the tea
honoring Mrs. William L. Phillips, Sr.,
recently named city-wide sponsor for
all chapters of Beta Sigma Phi sorority
in Salem.
The tea is to be given by all four
chapters of Beta Sigma Phi, Eta, Alpha
Epsilon, Xi Lambda and Alpha Psl.
The affair will be at the Court street
home of Mrs. Walter L. Spaulding,
hours between 3 and 5 o'clock.
In ' the receiving line will be Mrs.
Joseph Kitzke, president of the city
council of Beta Sigma Phi; Mrs. Spauld
ing and Mrs. Phillips.
Pouring will be Mrs. Percy R. Kelly,
Mrs. David Bennett Hill, Mrs. George
Beane and Mrs. Robert Topping.

Garden Club's Greens Show on Tuesday, Wednesday
Christmas time is a festive time in
Oregon's capital this season, and set
ting the pace tor colorful holiday events
will be the annual greens show of Sa
lem Garden club through next Tues
day and Wednesday -at Ixaak Walton
league club bouse.
Many interesting arrangements of
greens, Christmas trees, madonna ar
rangements, and other features are
planned, as well as several demonstra
tions on making holiday decorations.
The general public is, invited. The
vent will be open between 1 and 9
pjn. each of the two days, right through
the dinner hour, announces Mrs. James
H. TurnbuU, general chairman.
Tea will be served between I and 5
o'clock each afternoon and between T
nd 9 o'clock each evening.
Pageant Featured
And the tea time at the show will
feature a traditional pageant of or of
the origins of the "coffee parties'' so
popular today.

Mothers and Dads club is scheduled for

Joseph's school.
There will be a no-host dinner fol
lowed by Christmas festivities.
Arrangements for the drill team to be
presented at the grand session of Job's
Daughters in Salem, April 23 to 27, will
be made at a meeting of bethel No. 43
in the Scottish Rite temple Monday,
December 14, at 7:30 p.m.

for the party. A surprise skit Is to be

Medical auxiliary plan' a dinner and en
tertainment for their husbands on .De
cember 19 at 8:30 in the Gold room at
the Marlon hotel. Mrs. C. A. Fratzke
of Independence is general chairman
for the event with Mrs. Charles Mills
assisting with arrangements. Mrs. Max
Denton is in charge of the Christmas
decorating, while Mrs. George Squire
has mailed all invitations end taken
reservations.
The entertainment, planned for the
evening by Mrs. Dean Brooks, will In
clude a string quartet, playing through
the dinner hour and the crescendo
quartet singing several numbers later
in the evening. The high school stu
dents making up the string quartet are:
First violin, Pamela Clayton; second
violin, Patricia Edstrom; viola, Tony
de Sart and cello John Gibbens. Mem
bers of the quartet are Peter Van Horn,
David Lauthan, Ray Holmquist and
Kaye Brand. They will be accompanied '
'by Karen Johnson.
Club members and guests will be en
tertained by a chorus of Salem high
school students who will sing Christ
mas carols during a Christmas party
of Y Wives at the home of Mrs. A. A.
Schramm, 163 North 17th street, Tburs-
day, December 17, at 8 p.m.
Instead of a gift exchange, the group
plana a kitchen shower for the new
YWCA building. Members are asked
to bring gifts suitable for this purpose.
They will also collect food to be given
to a needy family at Christmas time.

o'clock Tuesday morning, December 13
at Nohlgren's.
Furnishing the morning entertain

will sing a number of Christmas carols,

daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Murry
Baker, who will read, "'Twaa the Night
. Before Christmas."
