front part of tha store, Chief of
Police Ray Maddy revealed.
Lammers told police the boy
walked into the store about 11
a.m. Thursday and asked to
stand by the beating unit until
he got warm. Lammen later
asked the boy to leave the
tore, but said be had little
cause to believe the boy had
rifled the safe.
Lammers said $90 in curren.

The boy was described as
being about 14 yean of age,
had light brown hair, and was

touches" on the world's first nuclear-powered submarine,
the USE Nautilus, at Groton, Conn. The vessel, under
construction for mora than a year, will be capable pf
traveling under water for thousands of miles at a speed

Catholic Parish shipped 87
boxes containing 2800 pounds
of used clothing for Korea,
tha Near East and the Far
East, it was announced by the
Rev. Cyril Lebold, O.S.B.,
pastor.
Tha clothing had been
assembled at the St Mary's
school during Thanksgiving
week and was packed by mem
bers of tha parish. The cloth
ing is for distribution on the
basis of need and without res
pect to creed. The local par
ish co-operated In a nation
wide campaign under the aus
pices of Wr Relief Service
of tha National Catholic Wei
fare Conference. .

the event, announced.
Trees growing near the inter
section of W. Fourth Ave., and

Ellsworth will be lighted from
a central location.
Christmas carols will be
sung by tha Albany Union High
school a cappella choir during
ceremonies which will begin
at 7 p.m. Tha Rev. Waldo El
llckson will deliver tha invoca
tion.

were 275 people in attendance,
many from out of town. A
number of floral tributes were
presented from local friends
and business houses.
The- congregational singing
was led by Rev. Ray Worth-
Ington, pastor of the Salem
Foursquare church, and the
invocation was given by Rev.
Edward H. Baldwin, pastor of
the Woorburn Church of God.
Short talks were given by
Mayor Elmer Mattson and by
Rev. Baldwin, president of
tha Woodburn Ministerial
assiciatlon. An organ solo was
by Rev. Raymond Cox, pas
tor of the Corvallis Four
square church. Guests and
members of the local church
council were introduced by
the pastor, Rev. Arthur Goble.
