Th Impressive rites were solemnized
at 11 o'clock, the Rev. Joseph Vander
beck officiating. It was a beautiful
all-white wedding. Whit gladioluses
and larkspur with touches of pink for
accent were banked on th altar. At
th pews were bouquets of th bloom
tied with whit ribbons. Corrine Alex
ander and Wayne Meuiey sang for th
service, Mr. Meuiey also playing th
organ.
Jon Michael Miller, young brother of
th bride, and Donald Wlchman wer
altar boys for th nuptial mass.
Lace and Tall Dress .

a dress of exquisite Chantilly lac and
nylon tulle. Th molded bodice, and
th long fitted sleeves wer of the lac
a was th short overskirt which waa
graduated from th sides in front to a '
dip in back and bordered pleats extend
ing down the front from th waist.
Th tulle framed a shallow V-neck-line
from th outer shoulders, and
the bodice was finished with a
pleated cummerbund of the tulle. Th
very full skirt extended into e cotillion
train. The headpiec ' of rhinestones
and pearls was th crown the bride
wore as queen of th 1890 Cherry Fes
tival. The veil was a two-tiered, waist
length one. With th dress the bride
.wore white satin, French heel slippers
with rhineston straps. Her flowers
were a crescent of stephanotls and bou
vardla. Mr. Miller gave his daughter
in marriage.
Th bride's five attendants also wer
dressed in white, the same Chantilly
lac and tulle as in th bride's dress.
Their waltz length frocks were worn
over taffeta ana wer fashioned with
tiny cap sleeves and boat necklines,
cummerbund of th pleated tulle and
full two-tiered skirts of th tulle. Th
fiv wore matching lac mitts and tiaras
of matching scalloped lac. All wore
pink shantung slipper and all carried
nosegays of Demur roses and pink
bouvardia.

groom's mother wore an antique gray
lace with matching satin shoes, a sstir
pillbox hat in the same color, and
corsage of pink orchids.
Reception Follows
Th reception following was at th
Catholic Center. Late summer flower
decorated the rooms. The bride's table
was covered with a pink cloth,
with whit lace insertions, and gar
lands of smilax were festooned on '
th cloth around the tabic. Mrs, John
P. Moloney, sister of the bridegroom,
Astoria, and Mrs. James Anderson,
Portland, cousin of the bridegroom, cut
the cake, those assisting including Mrs.
Emma Boyce of Portland, aunt of the
bride; Mrs. Palmer Macdonald of Port
land and Mrs. John H. Carson. Pouring
were Mrs. George Foster, Mrs. Lillian
Holmes, both aunts of the bride, Port
land, Mrs. Douglas Gern, Portland, aunt
of the bridegroom; Mrs. George S. Hoff
man, Mrs. Herbert J. Darby of Portland,
Mrs. John R. Caughell. Others assist

Zugef-Rogers Nuptials on Saturday
' An attractive bride this morning was
Miss Colleen Mae Rogers who wss mar
ried to Eugene Joseph Zuger. She is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James
Allen Rogers and Mr. Zuger is the son
of Mrs. Pauline Zuger, Salem, and A.
Zuger of Los Angeles.
The service was at S o'clock in St.
Joseph's Catholic church, the Rev. John
Fleming officiating. Sunburst baskets
of pink, whit and pal yellow gladio
luses and pompons decorated the
church, and the aisles were marked
with whit satin ribbons and clusters
of the flowers. Lorraine Nelke was
vocalist and Wayn Meusey played the
organ.
Given in marriage by her father, th
bride wore a dress of Chantilly lace
over satin, entrain. It was designed
with scalloped neckline, long sleeves
and two panels of accordion pleated
nylon down the front. Th fingertip .
veil of illusion was arranged from a
Juliet cap of satin and pearls. Th bride
carried a prayer book with white or
chid. Attendanta In Pastel
Mrs. Gilbert Adams was honor at
tendant. She wor a pale pink nylon
net over white dress that had appliqued
flowers on the strapless bodice and was
worn with a stole.. She wore a Juliet
eap of yellow net and carnations and
her bouquet was of the yellow carna
Monthly business sesssion for Salem
Soroptimist club will be next Wednes
day noon in conjunction with the
group's luncheon at the Golden Pheas
ant. Cascade chapter. National Secretaries
association, will meet at the home of
Mrs. William De Vail, 545 South 16th
street, Tuesday. Miss Patricia Sebas
tian will be a co-hostess for the dessert
and business meeting. Plans will be
made to attend the northwest regional
convention in Medford September 19
and 20.
Salem Writers cluD Is meeting next
Tuesday evening at 7:30 o'clock at the
home of Mrs. J. C. Singleton, 695 Court
street, Miss Renska Swart as co-hostess.
Trinity chapter, Order of Eastern
Star, will meet Friday at the West Sa
lem city hall at 8 o'clock. Reports of
the grand chapter will be given by Mrs.
Harry Charlton, worthy matron, and
Harry Miller, patron.
Ainsworth chapter, Order of Eastern
Star will resume its regular meetings
September 2, at the Scottish Rite
Temple at 8 o'clock.
Mrs. H. E. Smedley, worthy matron,
will preside for the last time before
leaving to spend a year in California.
A social hour will follow the meet
ing and refreshments will be served in
the dining room.

The bride's mother wor a winter
Wheat taffeta dress with matching
jacket, a black velvet hat and acces
sories.. The bridegroom's mother wore
a cream faille suit trimmed in black
with black accessories. Both mothers
wor corsages of pink orchids.
To Live Her
The reception was at the Salem Wom
an's club house. Mrs. Robert Schnider
cut the cake, Mrs. William Kraemer
poured. Assisting were Mrs. John Day,
Mrs. Gerald Saddler, Mrs. Melviri Stau
dinger, Miss Delores Suchy, Mrs. Chrys
tal Griffin. Decorations were in th
pink, whit and yellow theme.
For going away the bride wore a
white Irish linen suit, trimmed with
white satin and pearl and rhineston
detail on the Jacket, white accessories,
and corsage of white orchids. The
couple will be at home at 1799 Ever
green following a trip to Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Snyder, Amity,
are observing their golden wedding an
niversary next Wednesday, September
2.
A reception in their honor is arrang
ed for the afternoon by their family,
friends being Invited to call at the Sny
der home between 2 and 6 o'clock.
The Snyders have lived in Oregon,
since 1946, coming from Nebraska
where they were married 50 years ago.
In their family are two sons, Ray
Snyder of Amity and Cecil Snyder of
Molalla, a daughter, Mrs. Jack Starr of
Los Angeles; and seven grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Llndbeck leav
Monday for a trip to the east and south,
planning to be gone several months.
They will visit in Nebraska, Kansas,
Oklahoma, 'and Arkansas. In Wash
ington, D.C., they will visit their son
and daughter-in-law, Lt. Comdr. and
Mrs. John Lindbeck. Later, the Lind
becks will tour the south.
Miss Marilyn Quamme, bride-elect of
Douglas McLeod was honored at a mis
cellaneous shower this past week
when Mrs. Harold Alderin and Mrs. L.
W. Lepley entertained at the Alderin
home.
Games were in play with prizes go
ing to Mrs. Virgil Burson and Mrs.
Grant Shaffner. Refreshments were

Four candelabrum with lighted tap
ers, palms, baskets of gladioluses and
mixed autumn flowers in tangerine and
yellow shades and mixed with autumn
leave and wheat decorated the church
front. At the first four pews were au
tumn leaves and bows.
The bride wor . a nylon net over
atin dress. It was designed with a
low neckline encircled with a wide
band of lace, a fitted bodice that ex
tended to a point in front, and a very
full skirt with a short sweep train. Th
fingertip veil of nylon net was ar
ranged from a cap of the same lac
trimming the dress enhanced with seed
. pearls. For her flowers the bride car
ried cymbidium orchids in autumn
shades surrounded by whit carnations,
th bouquet having loops caught up
with stephanotis.
There wer two honor attendants,
Mrs. Robert Guthner and Mrs. Robert
Hjort, both sisters of the bride. They
wore ballerina length frocks of olive
green cotton aatina and carried straw :
baskets of chrysanthemums in bronz
shades, wearing garlands of th same
flowers in their hair. , .,. '
Miss Barbara Clau of San Mateo,
Calif., Miss Mona Browder of Napa,'
Calif., and Mrs. Dale Bull were the
bridesmaids. They wor cinnamon
brown cotton satina dresses, ballerina
length and in the same style as those
worn by the honor attendants. They
also carried straw baskets filled with
yellow chrysanthemums, and wore gar
lands of the same blooms. All the at
tendants wore mitts matching their
dresses.
Herbert Fry was the best man. Bill
Hudson, Robert Bishop, Robert Jossy,
Ted McKillop, Tom Dickey and Ben
Nanneman wer the ushers.
The bride's mother wore a dusty rose
dress with black and white accessories
and corsage of Talisman roses. The
bridegroom's - mother wore a dark
brown dress with pink accessories and
corsage of Better Times roses.
The reception following also wss at
the church. Mrs. Bill Hudson and Mrs.
Arthur Gottfried cut the cake. Mrs.
Gerald Bull and Mrs. George Smith
were at the coffee urn, Mrs, Hal Merrill
was at the punch bowl. Assisting wer

Th couple left for California, the
bride wearing a two-piece eggshell suit
with black accessories and corsage of
the green and bronze orchids. Th
couple will be st home in Los Angeles,
Mr. Kottke to continue his work at
' Los Angeles City college.
Women's Fellowship of the Knight
Memorial church will give a tea at the
church next Wednesday at 2 o'clock.

Last week brought a little country
club life in a limited degree. On noon
I waa a luncheon guest at th Chary
Chase Ceaatry Clnb. Our trio selected
our salad and other tempting calorie
heavy tidbit from th buffet In th
lower outside lounge and carried our
trays out on th .grounds where under
colorful umbrellas we at in an atmos
phere far removed) from th hustle and
bustle of the downtown area. It was
another oh of th delightful August
day that we have been having and even
though lt was mid-day there wer a
number of golfer out on th fairway
which stretched out ahead of us. It
looked like a good place to spend th
afternoon, but after th luncheon hour
it was a quick run down th avenue to
the office.
On another evening 1 dined with
friends at the Weodment Ceaatry Clafe
where the National Celebrities Golf
Tournament is to be played the first
week in September. Famous names in
.golfdom, in th. political Ufa, and In
th movinv nirt.ir. ff.M ... k. n.
the moving picture field are on the list
for participation. Since the receipts go '
for children's charities, huge crowds ar
expected to swell the benefit funds. The
club house was built only two year
ago, when the former property of th
club was sold and th new course was
established farther out in the suburban
area. Aa a result, the plant has been
designed with modern features and the
furnishings ar particularly attractive.
Outdoor swimming pool, badminton and
