Oregon Fishing Streams Clear, Says Commish Portland W) Oregon fish' ing streams are clear and the state game commission reports angling fair to good in most of them, although it ia poor in some, particularly in the coastal area and the northern Willamette valley. i-oncuuons on the unoer Clackamas, In the Mt Hood area and on the McKenzie riv er are fair to good and the Willamette and tributaries have been fair and the South Santiam la fair to good. In the southwest, salmon fishing is fair at Winchester Bay. Sea-run cutthroat fishing is slow in the Vmpqua, Smith and Sluslaw ' riven. Trout fishing has been generally slow, too. Streams In the up per Umpqua are fair for trout In central Oregon, the road Is open to Three Creek Lake and fishing is good. Sparks, Blue, Odell and Todd lakes have produced good catches. Fishing also is good in Irish and Taylor lakes, and on the upper Deschutes river. Catches have been excellent In most lakes in the Wallowa mountains, and good catches hsve been reported from high lakes In the Elkhorns. The Im naha river fishing is good and the Wallowa and Lostin riv er have dropped and are clearing. A few ateelhead have been taken in the lower John Day and Grand Ronde rivers.
