channel 8 by McCormick.
Channel 3 being VHF would pass the coverage of UHF
channel 24 if the 3 channel is properly located and pow

Repairs Being Made
To School Buildings
A maintenance force of the
Salem school district is cur
rently engaged in making the
customary repairs to the vari
ous buildings in preparation
for the opening of the 1953-54
term next September 21.
Few major projects are In
volved. The Roberts grade
building is being remodeled so
that two large rooms ana a
smaller one will be available.
An extension to the rear of the
structure and a remodeled en
trance is involved.
Painting of several rooms of
the North Salem high school
is in progress. A section of the
roof is being replaced.
' The Lincoln (Polk county)
building has had its belfry re
moved. The bell has been giv
en to the community club
there.
No Decision
On Quarters
The Marion County Welfare
Commission did not reach a
decision Monday afternoon in
connection with its proposal to
secure new quarters, but it is
anticipated an agreement will
be reached during a confer
ence to be held August 10.
In the meantime, Kenneth
