officers was held at the regu
lar meeting of the Women's so
ciety of Christian Service held
Tuesday in an all-day service
beginning at 10:30 SJn. A busi
ness meeting was held in the
morning and a. sack lunch
served at noon with the des
sert and coffee furnished by
the hostesses, Mrs. Fields and
Mrs. Charles Buchanan.
The opening devotional serv
ice was conducted by Rev. Or
mal B. Trick, assisted by Rv.
D. Lester fields. Rev. Trick
Installed the officers in a cere
mony written by Mrs. Lowell
Moore, closing with a poem.

Clifford Applegate, president,
serving for her second year;

A special feature of the day
was a talk by Mrs. Lottie
Crawford of Oregon City, who
has spent 10 months in Chill
with her son, Randall Craw-
fori, who has served a agri
culturist in that country for the
past six years. 6he talked on
his work, showed films and
answered questions.
The next meeting will be
June 16 at the home of Mrs. A.
X. Austin with Mrs. U B. Det
weiler and Mrs. Lowell Moore
as hostesses. Mrs. Mabel Hatch
will lead the devotional service
and Mrs. Al Whit win have
the program.

The June 1 deadline on alta
fescue and highland bentgrass
will effect most of the local
grass seed growers. Other
crops effected however, in'
elude Tualatin oatgrass, blue-
grass, and the Creeping red
fescues.
Certification of crimson and
subterranean clover fields re
quires immediate action. Since
both are blossoming at the
present time, the field inspec
tion will necesssrily have to be
made within the next few
days.
Seedling Inspections are re
quired on aeveral Marlon
county legume seed crops.
These inspections are made
when the seed crop is only two
or three inches high and de
termine the number of volun
teer plant in the field. Red
clover, Birdsfoot trefoil, and
Big trefoil must all have seed
ling inspections.
