The Rickey Rustlers opened their program with accordion music by Michael and Peter Lossner. The members of this club have taken, many honors with their theep, Herefords RIGHT DAY and Jersey as well as other projects. Susan and Ann Swearlngen will be moving to Bend, Oregon, at the close of acnooi. They will continue their 4-H activities In livestock mere. . Mrs. Agnes Arnot, sam pling her birthday cake, was 104 years old on Mother's Say. A native of Bowman ville, Ontario, she now lives' with her only surviving daughter of five children at Jacksonville Beach, Fla. (UP Telephoto.) Toastmaster Meet , Woodburn The breakfast meeting of the Woodburn Toastmasters was Saturday morning at 6:30 o'clock at the Coney Island restaurant with Jack Bush presiding. Principal speakers were Bush, Melvin Milyeu and Philip Branson; topics master, Lyman Seely; toastmaster, Rev. Arthur Goble and master evaluator, Lloyd Froom. Mrs. Capps presented the guest speaker, Mrs. John Cage oi Middle crove. Mrs. Cage ha been a 4-H leader In Oreson for 10 years. She is regional vice president of the 4-H Lead ers 'association. Her topic was 4-H as an adventure. Mrs. Everett Clark conduct ed the business meeting for the Mother's club. Reports on the carnival sponsored by the club May 1, stated the total proceeds were $251.55. Officers elected for the 1953- 84 school year were president. Mrs. Phil Gilslrap; vice presi dent, Mrs. Warren Shrake; sec retary, Mrs. John Fox; treas urer, Mrs. Gilbert Towne; pro gram chairman, Mrs. Charles Warren. , Mrs. Kathleen Toyceri's room won the attendance rocord for mothers. , ' The spring festival will be May IS. If it rains it will be on the first sunny day following. Pre-school conference for mothers of children entering first grade in the fall will be May 20 at 1:15 p.m. A program of instrumental and vocal music was presented by Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Clark, Kathy and Kenneth Clark, Thursday evening before the Four Corners Woman's club. Mrs. Jess Mcllnay presided at the business meeting. Fast traffic through the in tersection as well as inside the Four Corners boundaries and the need for a four-way light at the intersection, was dis cussed. s ' The hostesses' were Mrs. Melvin Scott, Mrs. Charles West, Mrs. Frank Lahr. . Infants and pre-school chil dren are eligible. . Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Norvold arrived this week from Zum brota, Minn., to make their home in Four Corners. They have purchased the Gates prop erty at 200 South Lancaster Dr. . Mr. Norvold was in the re tail clothing business in Zum- brota and Mrs. Norvold op erated a read-to-wear clothing shop. House guest of the Norvolds is Miss Irene Lawson, also of Zumbrota, Minn. Chorpen lng, assistant chief of engi neers for civil works, said the cost of such projects increased five per cent from July, 1051, to July, 1952, and three per cent more since that time. . Birds Eye Plant to Start Season May 12 Woodburn The Birds Eye plant in Woodburn will start the season's operations Tues day, May 12, if weather condi tions are favorable. The first crop to be processed will be rhubarb. A single crew of 48 women and 12 men is booked for Tuesday and it is possible that a second shift of the same size will begin Wednesday eve ning. Processing of rhubarb is expected to continue until the beginning of the strawberry season. .
