Board meeting for St. Joseph's Moth
ers club will be in the school library at
2:30 o'clock on Wednesday.
Catholic Daughters of America will
meet Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Cath
olic Center.

berg In May will be conducted at the
Neighbors of Woodcraft meeting on Fri
day, at the Salem Woman's club house.

Grant School Mothers club will meet
Thursday at the school at 1:15 o'clock.
A film on cancer will be shown by Mrs.
L. E. Marchat of the Marion county
committee for the American Cancer
Society.
Mothers of Mrs. Neva Mundinger's
first grade pupils will serve during the
tea hour, Mrs. Franklin Silkey and Mrs.
J. W. Peavey in charge.
Mrs. William E. Smith, principal of
the school, was hostess to the executive
board Thursday morning at her home
and announced that a tape recorder has
been purchased with proceeds from the
recent rummage sale.
AT H-BOMB TEST
"Training Our Youth for Responsible
Citizenship" will be the subject of a
talk given by State Representative Mark
O. Hatfield, dean of men at Willamette
university, when he speakf to Hl-Y and
Junior Hi-Y Mothers clubs on Tuesday.
Special guests will be the mothers of
Trl-Y members. -' Hostesses for the 12
'o'clock meeting are Mrs. J. E. Morgan,
Mrs. Ralph Morgan and Mrs. H. L. Gar
land. Ladies are to bring a sack lunch.
Members of Beta Sigma Phi in Salem
are making plans for organization of
new chapter of the sorority in Silver-'
ton. Women of Sllverton interested or
former Beta Sigma Phi member living
there are asked to contact Mrs. Francis
Rothweller in Sslem. A meeting Is
planned for next Thursday evening In
Sllverton for a group who may be interested.

Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Munson will ;
be honored at an open house' Easter
Sunday afternoon (tomorrow) in cele
bration of their silver wedding anniver
sary. The couple was married 25 year
ago today, April 4.
The party Is being planned by the
Munsona' daughter, Miss Janet Munson,
their granddaughter, Miss Katherine E;
Munson, and Mrs. William C. Munson,
their daughter-in-law.
Friends have been invited to greet
the couple at their home, 880 E street,

Cascade chapter, National Secretaries
association, will meet at the home of

Commercial, for dinner at 6:30 o'clock
on Tuesday. Mrs. Terete Hanks will

Parliamentary procedure will be the
theme for Salem Toastmistress club
when the group meets for dinner at the
Golden Pheasant Thursday evening at
8 o'clock. Mrs. J. M. Hartley will be
toastmistress and Mrs. A. H. Ullman will
be hostess. . General evaluator of the
proceedings will be Miss Marie Bosch.

Lee Methodist church will meet Monday
at 8 p.m. with Mrs. Paul Silke, 745

Duly in Texas
Leaving Salem for duty in
Texas the first of this week
after spending a 20-day leave
here was David W. Phelps, son
of 'Mr; and Mrs. David Phelps
of 499 South University street.
Phelps, a radar technician
with the Air Force, was among
those men taking part in the
hydrogen bomb test at the
Marshall islands. He spent four
months In the Marshall Islands.
A graduate of Salem high
school! class with the class of
1949, the Air Force man en
listed in that branch of the
service in January, 1990. He
is now to be stationed at Berg-
strom Air Force Base, Austin,
Texas.

ican Jersey Cattle club. These
men are local breeders of reg
istered Jersey csttle.
The recent applications of
Barnes, Phillips, and Lee for
membership were approved by
the club's board of directors at
their last meeting. Require
ments for membership specify
that an applicant must be an
owner of Jersey cattle and be
a careful and reliable breeder.
The applications of each of
these men were endorsed by
at least five members of the
club. The memberships give
them the privilege of voting
in the organization's affairs.
