Duo to Be
Wed Here
On Sept. 10
Announcing her wedding date
this week is Miss Glady Rose
Zlelinski, who is to marry
Charles Richard Pierce.
The wedding will be Septem
ber 10 at 9:30 . m. at St. Vin
cent DePaul Catholic church.
Miss Zlelinski is the daughter
of Mrs. Joseph Zlelinski of Sa
lem. She attended school in Sa
lem, graduating from Sacred
Heart academy. She was gradu
ated from the University of
Portland college of nursing In
June and Is employed at St. Vin
cent hospital in Portland.
Mr. Pierce Is a graduate of Sa
cred Heart academy. He enlisted
In the air force in 1949. He re
turned from duty in Korea in
June and Is now stationed In
Tucson, Arizona. The couple will
reside in Tucson after their mar
riage. The bridegroom-to-be is
the son of Mrs. Stella Pierce of
Prlneville, formerly of Salem,

Mr. Abdill Married

for the wedding of Miss Lillian
Earhart of Amity, daughter of
Mrs. E. A. Hobbs, and Percy
Lloyd Abdill, of Willamina, son
of Mr. and Mrs. D. F. McClurg,
on Sunday, August 17 at 8:30
p.m. The Rev. William P. Bray
officiated at the single ring cere
mony. Mrs. Ralph Konzilman
was soloist with Mrs. Theodore
Lehman, accompanist.
The bride wore a rayon lace
street length dress in peach
shade over white satin. Her fin
ger-tip illusion veil was arranged
from a white Dutch cap. She car
ried a spray of tuberous begon
ias and fern.
Miss Sally McClurg of Wil
lamina, sister of the bridegroom,
wore a green and white checked
gingham, street length dress. Her
flowers were the same as those
carried by the bride.
Irwin Warner, Amity, was
best man. Ushers were Darrell
Taylor, cousin of the bride
groom, Ronald Nelson and Rob
ert Lehman.
Following the wedding cere
mony a reception was held in
the social hall of the church.
Mrs. Henry Taylor and Mrs.
Ray Williams served the wed
ding cake, and Miss Virginia
Wakeman, presided at the punch
bowl. Miss Delores Ulrich of
Lafayette passed the guest book
and Mrs. E. H. Lehman was in
charge of the gifts. The young
couple left for a trip to the Ore
gon beaches.
They will be at home at the
Henderson apartments In Amity.
Mr. Abdill Is employed at a
lumber mill near Willamina.
GUESTS at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur A. Rogers are
her brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crawford
Reld of Long Beach, Calif.
Another sister, Miss Sadie May
Skattaboe, who has spent the
winter in Tucson, also has been
visiting at the Rogers home. She
has gone to Seattle but will re
turn here later.

Orange-Cranberry Cake Roll
Ingredients: 4 eggs, V teaspoon
salt, i cup sugar, i cup sifted
flour, i teaspoon baking pow
der, 1 teaspoon vanilla, one 5
ounce package orange ' sherbet
mix, one 1-pound can whole
cranberry sauce (drained).
Method: Beat eggs and salt over
hot water until thick and pale
colored, gradually adding sugar.
Sift flour and baking powder
and fold into eggs with vanilla.
Pour into shallow pan (about
13x10 Inches) lined with greased
waxed paper. Bnke in hot (400
degree F.) oven 12 minutes.
Turn onto cloth sprinkled with
powdered sugar; tear off paper.
Roll and cool. Meanwhile make
sherbet according to package di
rections, using 1 cup milk and
1 cup water, and place in freez
ing compartment of refrigera
tor; when firmly frozen remove
sherbet from refrigerator tray
to bowl. Break up into small
lumps with fork. Beat with ro
tary benter until free from lumps
but still a thick mush. Spread
sherbet on cool cake roll and re
roll. Place cake roll in freezing
compartment of refrigerator un
til serving time; then spread out
tide of roll with cranberry sauce.

daughter, Miss Bernice Da
Moude, to Willard Dixson, son

No date is set for the wed
ding. The bride-elect attended Sa
lem schools and is now employ
ed in the office of secretary of
state.
Mr. Dixson is in the army,
stationed at Camp Roberts,
Calif. He attended Portland
schools.
RNA Group
Several new members were
received by the Oregon Grape
camp. Royal Neighbors of
America, at their Wednesday
night meeting. Mrs. Oscar H.

RETURNING to Salem Thurs
day for a few days visit before
going on to their home in Pasa

Dr. and Mrs. Jones were here
for a few days, then went on
north to Victoria, B.C. They
will be here over the week-end.

8 o'clock In the evening at the
United Presbyterian church,
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Donald H. Orr,
Albany, and the bridegroom is
a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold
V. Main, Munster, Ind. The
Rev. Roy D. Strong read the
double ring ceremony In the
presence of more than 190 rel
atives and friends.
Given in marriage by her
father the bride wore a tr.

made with bodice and bolero of
lace, full skirt of net with lace
points over the hlpline and bal
lerina length. Her net over
the-face veil was edged with
lace ana neia in place with a
bandeau of shirred net embel
lished with flowers and seed
pearl centers. The bride car
ried a nosegay of itephanotis
with an orchid center.
Mrs. Ralph Paul of Corvallls
was the matron of honor and
wore a light shade of green
dress of taffeta with matching
bolero. The skirt had a wide
net ruffle at the hem. She wore
a bandeau in her hair with
green ostrich plumes to match
her dress. She carried a nose
gay of fuchsias, statice and
elf roses.
Miss Marlene Brown, Salem,
in a lavender dress and Mrs.
Robert Orr, sister-in-law of the
bride, also in lavender, were
the bridesmaids. Their dresses
were made similarly to that
of the matron of honor's. Each
carried a nosegay to match that
of the matron of honor.
Denny Edwards, Salem, cou
sin of the bride, was the ring
bearer.
Justin A. Miller, Jr., frater
nity brother of the bridegroom,
was best man. Ushers were
Jack Payne and Ralph Paul,
Corvallls and Larry Strong, Al
bany. Lighting the candles were
Miss Annette Millhollen, and
Miss Lyvona Main, sister of
the bridegrodm. Each wore a
light pink frock.
Justin Miller, Sr., was the
organist and accompanied Jus
tin Miller, Jr., and Mrs. Donald
Belt who sang the solos.
Mrs. Orr wore a light blue
lace dress with small navy blue
velvet hat and an orchid cor
sage for her daughter's wedding
and Mrs. Main wore a tan crepe
dress with henna shaded hat and
her flowers were also orchids.
The church was decorated
with two tall baskets of gladi
oluses in pink and cream shades
and lighted candles In candela-
brums.
After the ceremony the re
ception was In the church par
lors. The bride's table was cen
tered with the wedding cake
surrounded with pink and white
flowers and flanked with light
ed candles in sliver candclebra.
Mrs. Walter Edwards, ,Salem,
aunt of the bride, and Mrs. W.
R. Millhollen poured and Mrs.
Jed Looney cut the bride's cake.
Misses LaRene Cross, Joan Al
brlch, Catherine Burch, Mar-

Gloria Fintell assisted about the
rooms. Miss Elaine Wilson had
charge of the guest book and
Miss Lyndall Lovett was in

tertained the club officers at a
luncheon at her home Wednes
day. Covers were placed for
Mrs. James Lamb, Mrs. Walter
Schuler, Mrs. J. B. Gay, Mrs.
Charles Conyne and the hostess.
During the afternoon the
members worked on the new
year books and made plans for
the work of the year which
opens the first Wednesday in
October.
RETURNING the first of the
week from a trip to Vancouver
Island were Mr. and Mrs. Denver
Young and Judge and Mrs. Jo
seph B. Felton. They were gone
about 10 days and took the six
day boat trip from Victoria to
Chamiss Bay. The R. W. Lands
of Salem also were on the trip
ster, Ind. On August 26 they
will be the guests of honor at
an open house given by the
bridegroom's parents. After Sep
tember 1 they will be at home
In Corvallis. For golng-away the
bride wore a dusty rose and
dark striped suit with hat,
gloves and blouse to match.

white orchid corsage.
The bride was graduated from
Albany high school and attend
ed Oregon State college. The
bridegroom attended the East
Chicago, Ind., high school, Mon
mouth college, Monmouth, 111.,
and Oregon State college. He is
a member of Sigma Phi Epsl
lon. He will attend Oregon State
this fall where he is majoring
in civil engineering.

Chicago. The DeLaneys and the
Thau girls plan to spend a few
days at Suftides the first of next
week. They have also taken a
trip through the McKenzle pass.
The visitors plan to be in Salem
about two weeks.

left from San Francisco recently,
flying to Melbourne, Australia,
with the cast of the musical stage
play, South Pacific. Mr. Steln
bock has a lead part in the mu
sical which is to open at Her
Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne
on September 13. He is a grad
uate of Salem high school and
Willamette university and was
home visiting his parents the
first of the month.

The bride's dress was of white
organdy, cut en train, with short
sleeves and Peter Pan collar.
The fingertip veil was held
by a bandeau of lilies of the
valley. The bride wore gaunt
let lace gloves and carried a
white Bible and white roses.
Maid of honor was Mies Anita
Ritteman, sister of the bride,
and junior attendant was San
dra Cavallan.
Best man for Mr. Kunke was
Dale Folger, ushers being Ted
Millet and Eldon Chrlshanson.
A reception followed the wed
ding ceremony.
The bride is a graduate of
Concordia college, Moorhead,
Minn., and has taught at Port
Orford, Ore., for the past two
years. Mr. Kunke is a Willam
ette university graduate.
For the wedding trip the
couple went to Park Rapids
lake area in Minnesota and then
to Glacier National park. They
are to be at home in Dallas in
early September where Mr.
Kunke will be the coach at
Dallas high school.
EXPECTED to arrive on .the
train Friday from Lexington,
Kentucky, are Mr. and Mrs.
William H. Jones, who will
spend about two weeks in the
capital visiting their son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
George Arthur Jones.

tion for about six weeks.
