    Bride Wears
Pink Dress
At Wedding
At a candlelight ceremony at
the Chriit Lutheran church, Sat
urday evening, Miss Hazel W.
Brockhoff, daughter of Mn.
Helen Brockhoff, formerly of
Chicago, 111., was wed to Lyle
A. Glazier of Salem. The service
was read at 7 o'clock by the Rev.
T. M. Gebhard. Pink, lavender
and deep purple gladioluses dec
orated the church.
Mrs. Herbert Hamann, soloist,
was accompanied by Frederick
Wilson at the organ.
The blush pink satin wedding
gown, made by the bride, was
fashioned with lace yoke, long
sleeves, and full pleated skirt,
entrain. A front panel of the
skirt was embroidered in pink
beads and pearls in cascading
rose design. The bride wore a
three-quarter length French il
lusion veil belonging to her sis
ter. Her headpiece was a crown
of orange blossoms and the cor
sage was of pink roses.
Mrs. Wayne Padley of Chica
go, 111., was honor attendant for
her sister. She wore lavender
taffeta with an overdress of
white nylon net, made ballerina
length and her flowers were a
nosegay of lavender gladioluses
and pink roses. Miss Mildred
Schultz, of Salem, in deep purple j
laueia witn a wnite nylon net
overdress, was the bridesmaid.
Her nosegay was of lavender
gladioluses.
Sharon Weathers, in a pink
organdy dress over lavender,
was flower girl, and ring bearer
was Lawrence L. Burke, nephew
of the bride.
Best man at the ceremony was
Walter P. Weathers, and grooms
man, Robert Thompson of Can
by. Ushering were Estel Benner
and Lawrence I. Burke.
A yellow and blue sheer dress
with gold gladioluses pinned to
her shoulder was worn by the
bride's mother.
Guests were received after the
ceremony in the church parlors
with Mrs. W. P. Weathers assist
ing at the punch bowl, Mrs. Lois
Jarvis, cutting the wedding cake,
and Miss Beverly Schultz In
charge of the guest book.
For going away the bride's
auit of royal blue faille with
white and blue accessories was
worn with a white orchid and
stephanotis corsage. The couple
are to tour California, Nevada
and Idaho before making their
home in Salem after August 1,
Mrs. Glazier Is the choir direc
tor of the Christ Lutheran
church and the bridegroom is
the co-owner of the Salem Music
company.
Out-of-town guests included
an uncle of the bride, P. J. Ull
rich of Portland, and Mr. and
Mrs. Freeman Glazier, of Se
attle, brother and sister-in-law
of the bridegroom. .
WSCS Event
Silverton Recent meetings
of the women's organizations of
the Methodist church included
the general session of the Wom
an's Society of Christian Serv
ice, with the Miriam circle
members, hostess group. The
meeting of the Sara Adams cir
cle was Wednesday in a park
picnic, the Esther circle met
Thursday evening at the Robert
Barnes country place, and the
Miriam circle met Thursday af
ternoon at the Eureka avenue
home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Sites.

Savory Fried Chicken
Ingredients: One 3 to 3 'i pound
frying chicken, Vt cup flour, 1 H
teaspoons salt, freshly-ground
pepper (to taste),. 1 teaspoon
paprika, V teaspoon monosodi
um glutamate, 4 teaspoon dry
mustard, 'A cup butter or mar
garine. Method: Have butcher cut chick
en breast, wings, legs, and sec
ond joints so that you have 8
pieces; make stock for gravy out
of giblets, wing tips, neck and
bony part of back. Shake flour,
salt, pepper, paprika, monosodi
um glutamate, and dry mustard
together in heavy paper bag; add
chicken pieces and shake to coat
thoroughly. Melt butter or mar
garine In 12-inch skillet over
moderate heat; add chicken
pieces and brown well. Cover
tightly and cook until tender
over low heat. Remove chicken
and make gravy from drippings
in pan. Makes 4 to S servings,
Note: If chicken sticks after it is
covered add a few tablespoons
of stock to skillet.

Sunday Eve
In a double-ring ceremony
Sunday evening, Miss Delores
June Hultman, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Cecil T. Hultman of
Independence, was married to
Richard Norman Hukari, son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Hukari of
Hood River. The 8:30 service;
was read at the First Congrega- j
tional church, with Dr. Seth R.I
Huntington officiating. j
Baskets of white gladioluses
and blue delphiniums with can-!
delabrums decorated the altar of
the church. On the pews were
candles and ribbons and a white
aisle cloth was used. Lighting
the candles were Mrs. Kenneth
Strain of Gladstone and Miss
Jean Brooks of Portland, both
wearing light green brocade
gowns. Jean Hobson Rich, or
ganist, also accompanied the so
loist. Glennis Allen Buehning.
White imported Chantilly lace
over satin was worn by the
bride, the skirt in full court
train. The gown was designed
with a sweetheart neckline,
stand-up collar and long pointed
sleeves fastened with satin but
tons. The fingertip length veil
was also of Chantilly lace,
bordered with nylon net and
was arranged from a crown of
net lace with pearl trim. The
bride carried a white Bible with
a white orchid and ribbon
streamers. Mr. Hultman gave his
daughter In marriage.
Honor attendant, Miss Patricia
Latham of San Francisco, and
bridesmaids, Mrs. Robert Hall of
Portland, Mrs. Walter Buehning
of Salem and Miss Joan Harrison
of Salem, all wore identical
dresses of white embroidered
organdy over powder blue taf
feta fashioned with sweetheart
necklines, blue sashes and
matching headbands.
The attendenU carried pale
blue lacy fans with sweetpeas
and ribbon streamers. Kathy
Allen, in light blue taffeta, was
flower girl
Robert W. Hukari was best
man for his brother and Ross
Hukari, Lester Hukari, Glenn
Marsh, James MacLeod and Wil
liam Shepard were ushers.
Mrs. Hultman was dressed in
a blue silk crepe floor length
gown with pearl trim. Mrs. Hu
kari wore a lavender crepe gown
with accessories of lavender.
Their corsages were of Talisman
roses.
The reception following the
ceremony was in the church par
lors. Mrs. Melvin Irving, cousin
of the bride and Mrs. Robert
Rowling of Hood River, aunt of
the bridegroom, cut the cake.
Pouring were Mrs. Clark Irving
of Independence, aunt of the
bride, and Mrs. E. F. Stevens of
Portland, aunt of the bride
groom. Mrs. Donald Chalmers of
Portland and Mrs. John Hay-
worth were in charge of the
punch bowl. A white organdy
cloth over blue satin decorated
the reception table with silver
candlelabrums and fern used al
so. Assisting were Mrs. Charles
Hill of Portland, Miss Carolyn
Going, Mrs. Glenn Sweringen,
Miss Charlotte Housley, Miss
Betty Vaughn and Mrs. John
Alexander of Coos Bay, In
charge of the guest book was
Mrs. Kiernan Madden of Red
mond and Miss Marilyn Pinson
of Salem, passed the dreamcake.
For the wedding trip, the
bride wore a light blue dress
maker knit suit with frost white
hat and gloves, a while orchid
and brown lizard accessories.
The couple went to Lake Louise
and Banff for the honeymoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Hukari will be
at home after August 3 in Hood
River.
SILVERTON Many friends
are greeting Mrs. Ida Neuenberg
of Los Angeles, for many years
a local resident, who is house
guest at the home of Mrs. A. J.
McCannel. Mrs. Neuenberg was
presented for honors at last
week's meeting of Delbert
Reeves unit No. 7, American

Star Mother, and was first presi
