Seattle, Aug. 29 VP) Almost everybody else has had their say
about dancing the can-can on Seattle docks as a welcome for
returning Korean war veterans.
Today the dancers themselves
project. One of them, Gloria Jean

suggestive about the dance. It's
merely a routine, like waltzing
or a ballet."

'The dance is no different than
a tap dance. If those people who
have accused us of wearing
flimsy costumes could see them

The dresses are made of heavy
satin, and we don't wear net
stockings like the French can

tests from Seattle religious
groups. The girls, all pupils of
the Barclay studios of the dance,
said they enjoy doing the dances
for the troops.
'We feel that we are no dif
ferent than the people in the
bands that go down there," said
Shirley Laing, 17. "We have
done it at USO shows and at
Fort Lewis and for Community
Chest benefits at the University
of Washington."

an active trade on the board of trade to
day. The market started lower and was not
able to work up a slaeable rally at any
time.
Selling in wheat followed news that Can
ada had gone through another frost-free
night. Increasing prospects that the bumper
wncat crop in that country will get
through the current crucial period safely.
There was no export buying in wheat.

from the University of Minne
sota. He secured his M. A. de

ished a year of added graduate

He taught for several years
at Iowa State Teachers college,
then at New Mexico Highlands
university, and during the past
three years has served as super
visor of art in the San Leandro,
Calif., elementary schools, and
taught some art education
classes at the University of Cali
fornia. He will teach some college
