today in the stock market and inspired
enough additional buying to lift the en
tire list.
Gains in that division ran Into the area
of $1 to $3 a share with Deep Rock Oil go
ing beyond $6 a share at times.
Elsewhere In the market prices extended
into the $1-12 r a line with only a few scat
tered losses In evidence.
Trading expanded on the rise to an es
timated 1,200,000 shares. That contrasts
with 1,060,000 shares yesterday when
prices were falllrtft.
The new common stock of Standard OH
(NJ) was an outstanding feature with a
gain approaching $2 a share.
Oils have been popular recently with
hlsh production, steady demand and firm
selling prices the general rule In the In
dustry. Steels followed the oils on the upside
with U. S. Steel a feature.
Railroads stood still or slid back as a
group.

by the highway commission last
week when the commission mov
ed into its own building.
The labor commissioner and
banking department will move
from the library building, the
Salem office of the liquor com
mission from a downtown build
ing, and the parole board will
transfer from the capitol.
The assignments are made by
Secretary of State Earl T. New
bry, who is custodian of all state
buildings.
