A prominent agricultural fig
ure will be the main speaker at
the McMinnville chamber of
commerce farm dinner to be
held June 11. He is R. L. Clark,
president of the Pacific Wool
Growers association.
The dinner session will be
open at 7:30 p.m. at the St
James school in McMinnville. On
the agenda is one of the famous
ham dinners served by the wom
en members of the church.
There will be also dinner mu
sic and a number of entertain
ment features. Chamber mem
bers are to bring members of the
farming community as their
guests.
The rural home of Mrs. Mar
tin Lorenz was the scene of a
bridal shower given in honor of
Miss Leona Hatwan, bride-elect
of SQ2 Richard Hook of La
Grande but now stationed at the
submarine base in San Diego,
Calif. Miss Betty Svendson was
co-hostess.
Friends of Miss Laiel D. Beck-
ner feted her with a surprise
bridal shower at the home of
Mrs. Frank Eder, who acted as
hostess to the honoree and 10
guests. Miss Beckner graduated
from high school June 1, and is
