lamette valley will be focused
on the strawberry fair, June 9
10, when huge street dances will
be featured events of both eve
nings. Last year's street spec
tacle, directed by OSC's Miss
Erma Weir, was the largest of
its kind staged In the state in
modern times.
The fair will again feature the
giant shortcake, weighing 6358
pounds, with generous portions
served for all comers.
The grand parade will be un
der the direction of the Kiwanis
club, which voted at its last
meeting to sponsor that part of
the program.
Fair manager L. E. Arnold
stated that all assignments
would be made by Thursday of
this week. A meeting of the fair
committees is scheduled for
Thursday evening.
Interest is mounting In the
queen selection, with several
firms announcing the sponsor
ship of candidates. The queen's
committee this year is under the
sponsorship of the junior cham
ber of commerce.
