Students Donate Blood It was "Willamette university day"
when the mobile unit from the Portland regional blood center
made its monthly stop here, Tuesday. Of the 135 pints of blood
received, 83 were donated by Willamette students who were
official sponsors for the unit for the day.

Mobile Blood Center
A total of 135 pints of blood was received when the Portjand
regional blood center mobile unit stopped at Salem Tuesday
afternoon the best day yet for Salem in the year the unit
has been coming here.
More blood was received when the unit stopped at the state
penitentiary, but that was not r$.
regular Marion county visit.
Of the 135 pints donated, 83
were from Willamette university
students. The Willamette stu
dents were sponsors of the visi
tation this time.
So badly depleted were sup
plies of blood in the regional
center that as soon as the first
50 pints were received here they
were rushed to Portland for pro
cessing to be available upon call
within the area served by the
center, the remainder of the
blood being taken to Portland
when the unit ceased operations
at 5 p.m.
The Willamette student com
mittee working to sign up don
ors on the campus included
George Adams, Stephen Nicks,
William Moore, James Jackson,
Eugene Walters, Miles Edwards
and Jack Falkenhagen.
Next visitation to Salem for
the unit will be April 11. Hours
for the monthly stop have been
changed, and on that date the
unit will be in operation be-
tween 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the
First Methodist church as usual
Police Gel Prowler
But Send Him on Way
Police caught a prowler Tues
day night, but they sent him on
his way after hearing his story.
The subject was caught in his
own woodshed on a tip given
police by a neighbor.
The man's explanation for be
ing in the woodshed was that he
was hiding from his wife and
didn't want to be seen for fear
of getting a beating from his
wife's friend.
Potato water was once re
garded as medicinal lotion in
Ireland.
