dent, John Bone, finished as Sa
lem finally in a national orato
rical contest sponsored by the
American Legion.
Bone is 16 years of age and is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. John S.

top federal enforcement official
disclosed Tuesday that he receiv
ed a death threat in connection
with the government's intensive
drive against narcotics rings and
gang warfare in California.
George White, head of the fed

he received a telephone call just
after Abraham Davidian, a key
government witness, was slain in
Fresno last Wednesday. A voice

school orchestra Tuesday night
when the orchestra and the Sa
lem high school choral groups
put on the second of the two
concert series starting at 8
o'clock.
The orchestra group Is directed
by Victor B. Palmason and the
choral groups are to sing under
the direction of Howard Miller.
Salem high school students
participating have been practic
ing the past two weeks preparing
for the event.
Miss Hill is an active student
at Salem high and is a member
of six organizations.
