Rails were marked down along

the morning. Buying interest in
the carriers perked up soon aft
er noon and quickly spread.
TV stocks were among the
hardest hit in early trading but
recovered substantially. Sparks
Withington was the star per
former in this group with a rise
of more than a point. A week
ago this stock closed at 5Vi, to
day it is priced around 10.
A good amount oi business
was done, with turnover at a
rate of about 1,700,000 shares
for the full session. ,

Portland Retains Rent Control

Ralph Richard Agee
Lebanon Ralph Richard Agee. 48, mech
anic employed by the Multnomah Lum
ber Sl Box Sales Co., was stricken by a
fatal heart attack while riding a com
pany truck late yesterday. He died short
ly afterward In the Lankmnck hospital at
Sweet Home. The body will be sent to
Multnomah, where he resided, from the
Howe-Huston Funeral home. Mr. Agee wis
a native Oregonlan, born Dec. 25, 1901, at
Newberg, Ore.
Walter Joseph Coyla
Lebanon Walter Joseph Coyle died
Monday at a Lebanon nursing home. Ha
was born May 31, 1896, at St. Paul, Ore.
He lived In Salem five years before com
ing to Lebanon lost September, having
been a guard at the state penitentiary
five years. Services at St, Paul'a Cntholio
church will be announced later by the
Howe-Huston funeral home of Lebanon.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte
