Dallas Churches Join Forces For Presentation of Cantata Dallas, Feb. 10 Dallas churches are co-operating to present the sacred cantata, "The Nazarene," at two performances, one a worship service on Sunday, February 19, and the second a benefit for the March of Dimes on Monday, February 20. Both presentations will be in the EMB church with K. H. -Neufeld of Canada directing the 100-voice choir with members of several local churches parti cipating. In addition, a string en semble will appear from Wil lamette university to accom pany the group. Soloists in the cantata will be Mrs. R. Wm. Elmer, soprano; Alvina Frey, soprano; Maycel Burr, soprano; Henry Quiring, tenor; Nels Friesen, baritone; and Sol Ediger, bass. It is planned to broadcast the Sunday program over radio sta tion KOCO. Preliminary plans for the be nefit were laid by a committee composed of Dr. J. H. Stewart, county health officer, Rev. A. P. Toews, pastor of the Evan gelical Mennonite Brethren church and chairman of a com mittee in charge of the cantata, anr" Wes Sherman, associate ed itor of the Itemizer-Observer. At its Monday meeting, the Dallas Ministerial association endorsed the project as a com- muuty-wide benefit and ap pointed a committee to co-op erate with arrangements. On the ministerial association c o m mittee are Rev. Karl Ufer, Rev J. J. Regier and Rev. Henry Log- gan. At the benefit program a freewill offering will be taken, the entire amount going to the March of Dimes. Rehearsals on the cantata s'arted this week with four scheduled. A capacity crowd from the Dallas area and all over this part of the Willamette valley is expected to attend. Young People To Elect Officers The Senior Young People's so ciety of the Bethel Baptist church is to have its annual busi ness meeting and election of of ficers Sunday evening at 6:30 o'clock. NORMAN OLSON 3 Week Bible Course Planned Norman Olson, member of the official board of Trinity Meth odist Church of Los Angeles and president and founder of the Laymen's System of Bible Study, will conduct a 3-week course in Bible study beginning Monday February 13 at 7:30 p.m., at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Alfred Danielson, west coast di rector of the Conservative Bap tist Foreign Missionary society; Rev. Robert Welch, Missionary among the Senoufou people of French West Africa; and Miss Dolores Joy, Missionary Ap pointee to Italy, will furnish the afternoon's program. Four teen. Conservative Baptist churches from Salem and sur rounding cities will participate in the service. The Dallas Men's quartet will be featured in the music for the afternoon. Rev. Robert Welch of the Con servative Baptist Foreign Mis sion society will speak at the Sunday morning 11 o'clock serv ice and Miss Beth' Albert of the International Christian Leprosy Mission will speak at the 6:15 and 7:30 services on Sunday evening.
