Youth Trial
Sunday Night
"Youth Week" activities of
the First Christian church will
reach a climax Sunday night
through the medium of a trial
in which the accused will be
charged on four counts.
Bill Hill, as president of the
Christian Youth Fellowship, the
defendant, has been accused of:
Failure to know the Scriptures,
failure to choose vocations
which will render service to
men, choice of a false standard
of values and failure to hold
Christian convictions.
Judge Hex Kimmell of the
circuit court will preside and
W. W. McKinney will prosecute
the case. The defense will be
represented by Walter Lamkin.
The trial will open at 7:30 and
the general public is invited to
attend.
Other First Christian church
activities for the day will in
clude a united Sunday school
class at 0:45 a. m. and a worship
service at 10:50, when Rev. Wil
lard A. Elkins, for many years
a minister in the Christian
church, will preach on the sub
ject, "Jesus Calls Us." Doris
Lane will respond for the youth
with a statement entitled, "We
Will Answer."

Duerkson spent last summer
in a number of European coun
tries and will tell of his experi

The choir has traveled widely
in the Pacific coast, under the
leadership of Prof. Roy Clark.
The group has become known
for its special arrangements of
hymns and spirituals. A ladies'
trio, sextet and male quartet
will also be heard on the pro
gram. Among the devices used to
kill weeds is a flame gun that
functions like a flame thrower
in war but on a much smaller
scale.

Youth for Christ
Rally Sunday
A Youth for Christ rally will
be held Sunday afternoon at the
Salem senior high school audi
torium, featuring as the speaker
of the afternoon, Louis Zam-
perini, former world record
holder as a runner. Adrift on a
life raft for 47 days during
World War II, Zamperini experi
enced the hardships of such a
fate following the shooting of
their aircraft. During the revival
recently held In Los Angeles
under the leadership of Dr.
Billy Graham, Zamperini was
converted and now comes to
give his testimony.
With Zamperini will be the
Four Flats male quartet known
throughout the northwest as
gospel singers.
The public is invited to the
rally, which will begin at 3 p. m.
