Shrock Steams Up
In Annual Payoff
On Duck-Bevo Bet
"It's a long road that has
no turning," mused Clayton
Foreman Monday morning as
he watched Clarence Shrock
endeavor to press a suit of
clothes preparatory to wear
ing the garments for the bal
ance of the week. The action
took place at Kennedy's, 1245
State.
Foreman and Shrock have
been feuding over the Oregon-Oregon
State football
games for a number of years.
Foreman backs the Beavers
and Shrock the Webfoots.
For the past two years
"Clayt" has had to wash
Shrock's automobile in front
of the latter's place of busi
ness. And, as one can well
imagine Clarence didn't stay
on the pavement all of the
time prior to the contest
Asked how Shrock was
making out with one of those
fancy steam pressing rigs.
Foreman replied: "He's doing
it the hard way, with no as
sistance from the crew."

Rodeo Men Seek
To Popularize
Steer Ropings
Colorado Springs, Colo.,
Nov. 21 CP) The International
Rodeo association's rules com
mittee wants to make steer
roping, which is banned in
many states, an event more
popular with contestants and
rodeo fans.
The roping event is taboo in
some states because it Is con
sidered brutal. When the rope
runs taut with the steer it is
likely to do a fancy flip-flip
that is said to affect his nerves
and various portions of his
physical equipment.
R. J. Hoffman, president of
I. R. A., which is now in con
vention here, made the state
ment about revised rules yes
terday. Hoffman, from Cheyenne,
Wyo., told convention dele
gates that I. R. A. rodeos last
year paid out purses totalling
$425,000, a sum which was
split among 1,999 cowpokes.
