(Acme Telephoto) Grains Move Up For Dav's Trade Chicago, Oct. 6 WP Grains moved steadily upward on the board of trade today. Commis sion houses did the bulk of the buying, but there also was some from commercial interests. Wet weather over almost all the mid-west was one factor in the strength. Another reason was a boost in the government's buying price for cash wheat. Wheat closed Vt-lVt higher, December S2.13'4-:14, corn was ss-?4 higher, December $1.19 'i a, oats were unchanged to 3s higher, December 67 Vs. rye was 2'A-34 higher, December $1.48, soybeans were IV. to 2 cents higher, November $2.33 k- 2.33, and lard was S to 12 cents a hundred pounds higher, Octo ber $11.25. Flexible Farm Suppoi rl Price Washington. Oct. 6 (IP) The senate agriculture committee to day approved, 9 to 3, a flexible farm price support bill. Demo cratic Leader Lucas of Illinois said it will be brought before the senate tomorrow. Lucas described the bill as fol lowing the lines of the long range farm measure originally introduced by Senator Anderson CD-NM). The senate sent the Anderson bill back to the agriculture com mittee Tuesday night, after Vice President Barklcy had broken a tie to give senate approval of an amendment for price props under major crops at 90 percent of parity. (Parity !s a price level calcu lated to give farmers the same returns on their crops, measur in things they buy, that they had in a past favorable period). Lucas said the 00 percent par ity provision was stricken out by committee vote and the flexi ble 75 to 90 percent parity pro vision favored by Anderson re turned to the measure. 6 Die in Crash Bus and Truck Rocky Mount, N. C, Oct. 6 (U.B A school bus and an ice truck sideswipod on a narrow rural bridge today, killing at least six children and critically injuring one other. Two of the children died in a hospital here. One of the injured, suffering a punctured lung, was in criti cal condition. The Red Cross broadcast an appeal for blood donors here and more than 100 persons re sponded, meeting the need. All available nurses attended the children in two hospitals, and the Red Cross said It was bring ing In four more nurses for night duty.
