New Record High Price Set For Rams in Albany Sale By CLAUDE STEUSLOFF A new record high average of $98.46 for rams was set at the ninth annual Willamette Valley purebred sheep sale held Sat urday at Albany. Brisk buying by California, Washington and Oregon flock masters ran the sale total up to $11,547.50 for the 124 rams and ewes offered. Ewes averaged $59.56. A. M. Mindcn of Sublimity paid $280 for the top animal of the sale, a Hampshire stud ram consigned by R. W. Hogg & Sons of Salem, who also sold the top ram at last year's event. Minden bought three other rams and one ewe. Second highest price ram, a Romney, went to L. J. Knife of Arago at $225. His twin was third highest at $205 to Dr. C. H. Seagrave of Oregon City. Both sheep were consigned by Lynn Barnes of Harrisburg and trace to a ram Imported from New Zealand several years ago by Ahrens Bros., Turner. Prices Indicate Quality Excellent quality of the offer ings was reflected in the price scale established. Fourteen rams brought $150 or more each, com pared to 11 such last year. She died Sat urday evening at the home of her daugh ter, Mrs. Miles Tobias, 200 South James Avenue, followini months or illness. She was a Qold Star mother, her son, Alva, met death during tho First World War. She was active as a member of the Trin ity Lutheran church and Tryphena Re- oka.h lode, The family moved from Kan sas to Silverton thirty years ago. Mr, Larson died September o, 1943. Surviv ing are two sons and a daughter, Clifford. Oregon City, Ralph, Oakland, Calif., and Ora Tobias, Silverton. Grandchildren, Jeanne Araujo, UuKland. Jerry t-nr.son. Oakland, and Dickie Larson, Oregon City. Also two great grandchildren, .Mm. Thomas Harty Silverton- Local members of the family received word of the death of Mrs. Thomas Harty. 78, at her homo In Miles- vllle, South Dakota, August S, following extended illness. Her daughter, Mrs. Frank Burns, Silverton, has been with her mother for several weeks, having made the trip during the Fourth of July holiday accompanied by members of her family who returned within a few days. Funeral services are being held today Monday) at Mllesville. Survivors are the husband, Thomas Hurty, Mllesville, the daughter. Mrs. Frank Burns, and three urandfchlldren, Mrs. Catherine Mathelson, LeRoy Burns, all of Silverton, and Mrs. Mnybclle Hozman of Philomath. Kreat grandchildren. Donna K. and Thomas athleson, Silverton. Mrs. Burns plans to remain at Mllesville for some time to care for the father, who Is 89 years of age and very ill. Mrs. Rose M. Clifford Larson of Oregon City and Ralph Larson of Oak land, California, and one daughter, Mrs. Ora Tobins of Silverton. She also leaves three grandchildren and two great grand children. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran church In Silverton with Rev. Almle officiating. Final rltts will be at Mt. Crest Abbey in Snlem beside her hus band Richard F. Larson who died In 1013, Tho Ringo Mortuary of Woodburn Is in charge of arrangements.
