After Decline
New York, Aug. 3 (P The
stock market barely avoided a
serious dent in its summer ad
vance today.
A pick-up in prices at midday
more than wiped out early de

Narrow gains and losses were
about in balance. Aided by
transfers of sizable blocks of
low-priced issues, total turnover
reached around 1,300,000 shares
for the fastest pace in more than
a week.
Commonwealth & Southern
accounted for a good portion of
the day's business, leading the
midsession activity as blocks
ranging from 10,000 to 100,000
shares changed hands. It touch

price of the year.

by the Skyline road and on the
east by the west line of the
Morningside district.
William J. Linfoot told tho
court that there is a very small
area in one corner of the pro
posed district which might pro
test against being included and
that, if it does, there will , ob
ably be no objection to elimin
ating it at the hearing.
