Sublimity The Sublimity
Women's club had its annual
picnic at the St. Boniface parish
park. A pot luck dinner was
nerved and the afternoon was
spent playing cards.

and Mrs. Moritz and children
were dinner guests at the A. G.
Moritz home in Portland.
Miss Davey Wed
Here on Sunday
A wedding of interest took
place at the Immanuel Baptist
church in Salem, Rev. F. G.
Bennett officiating, on Sunday,
July 17, at 3:00 o'clock, when
Miss Beryl Mae Davey was wed
to Ronald C. McDonald. The
church was beautifully decor
ated with palms and flowers in
pastel shades.
Because of the unavoidable
absence of her father, the bride
was given in marriage by her
grandfather, E. F. Hausfeld.
The bride's gown was of
white nylon with full-length
coronet veil worn by her moth
er at her wedding. Her bou
quet was of coral pink gladio
luses and fern. Her necklace of
turquoise and silver was a gift
of the bridegroom.
Miss Rowena McDonald, sis
ter of the bridegroom, was maid
of honor, wearing a formal
gown of dusty rose and carrying
a bouquet of white and rose
gladioluses and fern.
The little Misses Merry and
Cherrie Davey, twin-sisters of
the bride, were flower girls in
yellow formal gowns, carrying
colonial bouquets of white and
pastel blossoms.
Stanton Anderson was best
man.
Miss Helen Hausfeld played
the wedding music and accom
panied the vocalists. The bride's
mother, Mrs. Harold Davey,
Miss Jeanette Saucy and Sam
Berger sang.
The bride's mother wore a
pale green formal with pink ac
cessories. The bridegroom's mo
ther wore a rose pink gown with
white accessories. The bride's
grandmother wore a gown of or
chid with navy accessories.
The ushers were Darl Hunt
and Mr. Russell Reich.
The bride is the eldest daugh
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Da
vey of Welcome, Minn. She was
an honor graduate of the Tri
umph high school of Triumph,
Minn., and attended Willamette
university for a time. She has
been employed at the Commer
cial Book store, Salem.
The bridegroom is the only
son of Mr. and Mrs. Carol Mc
Donald of Salem. He is a grad
uate of Salem high school and
Oregon Technical institute.
The wedding reception was
held at Rhodelia Dell on South
12th street. Mrs. Sam Berger
cut the cake, served by herself
and Mrs. E. F. Hausfeld, grand
mother of the bride. The bride's
cake was cut and served by
Miss Cornelia McDonald. Miss
Ruth Barthold, assisted by Miss
Barbara Bennett, served the
punch from a rustic wishing
well. .

GRAND RONDE Mr. and
Mrs. Lloyd Weaver announce
the marriage of their daughter,
Clarabelle, to Robert Hamrick
of Martinez, Calif. The young
couple were married July 3 at
Reno, Nev. They were accom
panied to Reno by Mr. and Mrs.
Lee Shaw and daughter, who
witnessed the ceremony.
Mr. Hamrick recently re
turned from Guam, where he
had been employed about a
year. He is now engaged in the
logging business near Grand
Ronde. The bride is a graduate
of Willamina union high, class
of '48, and is emoloyed here at
the Long-Bell office.
ANNUAL picnic for Salem
chapter, Order of Eastern Star,
will be an event of next Sunday
in the Dallas City park, the no
host dinner to be served at 1
o'clock. The chapter is furnish
ing the ice cream and coffee.
The picnic is for all members
and their families.

Friends, Mrs. Wray
Silverton Of local interest to
her numerous friends is a mes
sage of greetings from Mrs Lucy
Wray, now in her 91st year, who
makes her home at the Chris
tian Beaverton home. Mrs.
Wray is in unusually good
health but her eyesight is fail
ing. The Wrays were in busi
ness in Silverton for many years.
Mrs. Minnie Preston, also of
the Beaverton home, returned
there from a fortnight with Sil
v e r t o n friends, accompanied
home by Mrs. Carl Specht, Mrs.
Arthur Dickman and Mrs. Gus
Herr. Mrs. Wray and Mrs. Pres
ton were luncheon guests' in
Beaverton of the local group.
When you want to combine
salad and dessert fill pear halves
(fresh or canned) with a mix
ture of finely cut celery, wal
nuts and mayonnaise; serve on
romaine or escarole. Finely cut
dates may also be added to the
pear filling if desired.

freshing, it is the perfect ending lor warm weatner meais. a
tablespoon of sherbet adorning a dish of berries or other fresh
fruit is delicious and attractive. Those long, cool drinks, made
with ginger ale or sparkling wa--
ter, are even better topped witn
a scoop of sherbet.
Here's a delightful sherbet,
cooling as a long drink and
tangy of flavor, made with gin
ger ale.
Gingerale Sherbet
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
2 tablespoons cold water
Vi cup lemon iice
1 cup pineapple juice -
Wi cups pale dry ginger ale
2 egg whites '
Combine 1 cup water with
cup sugar. Boil for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle gelatin on 2 table
spoons cold water: then add to
the hot sugar syrup; stir until
dissolved. Add lemon juice,
pineapple juice and ginger ale.
Pour into freezing tray of auto
matic refrigerator with tempera
ture control at coldest setting;
freeze until firm about 1-inch
in from edge of tray. Beat egg
whites stiff; add remaining Yt
cup sugar, while continuing to
beat. Beat sherbet with fork
fold in beaten egg white mix-
