6 False Alarms
Annoy Keizer
Whether someone has tele
phone numbers confused, or is
risking a prison rap by turning
in false fire alarms, is a ques
tion that is being asked in the
Keizer district.
So far this month six false
alarms have come in. There
were five in June and five in
May.
Keizer has a volunteer fire de
partment, one fire truck and a
new headquarters hall. Alarms
are sent in by telephone. When
a call comes in it automatically
sets off the fire siren. The rea
son for this arrangement is that
members of the small volunteer
company are occupied with their
regular business and there are
times when no one is at the
hall.
The department's telephone
number is 3-9898, which should
not be easily confused. Mem
bers of the company have tried
to trace the call through the
telephone central office, but
haven't been successful.
Most of the false alarms have
caused needless and expensive
runs by the fire truck, and
made no end of trouble and in
convenience for the firemen.
