valley equestrians are anxiously awaiting the opening show

in cash and trophies has been posted by the rodeo association.
St. Paul Banners Wave
With Rodeo Atmosphere
St. Paul, Ore. Banners and flags bedeck the streets, western
style clothing is in the spotlight, and the horse is the popular
means of transportation as the city of St. Paul makes ready for
its 14th annual July 4th rodeo. Professional cowboys from all
sections of the United States will be on hand to try for their share
of the $7500 in prizes and tro
phles being awarded the win
ners of this year's three-day
celebration.

both Saturday and Sunday
nights are family nights at the
roedo, and all youngsters under
12 will be admitted free of
charge to the performances, if
they are accompanied by their
parents. The Washington coun
ty sheriffs posse, Hillsboro, will
drill as a special feature Satur
day night; the Salem Saddle
club will perform at the matinee
and evening performance Sun
day; and the Oregon Mounted
posse, Salem; Portland Mounted
posse, and Oregon Ranch Girls
will be guests on Monday.
Governor Douglas McKay will
be grand marshal of the street
parade which will wind through
