Lambs will have their day
June 4 at Turner for the 12th
annual Marion county fat lamb
and wool how. Four-H, FFA,
and open elasses have been ar
ranged. Henry Ahrens, Turner, gen
eral chairman of the show,
atatef that "All exhibits should
be on the grounds by 10 o'clock,
standard time, with judging to
atart at 10:30.
All Marion county 4-H aheep
project members are encouraged
by Anthol Riney, county exten
sion agent 4-H, to participate in
the five classes set up for 4-H
members and the open class
wool fleece exhibit.
The classes' are divided into
fat and breeding lambs with
classes for single fat ewe lambs,
single wether and pen of three
lambs, ewes or wethers.
Breeding classes are arranged
for single ewe and ram lambs.
Wool fleeces are to be of the
1B49 shear and be a ewe fleece.
Fleeces will be divided into
three classes for the judging by
Bay Ward, manager, Pacific
Wool Growers, Portland.
Sheep classes will be judged
by Chauncey Hubbard, Corval-
Edward Gath, Turner; Ron
rld Hogg and Claude Steusloff.
Salem, all prominent sheep
breeder in this area.
Eleven Privates Win
Advance to Corporal
Eleven members of Salem's
Marine Corps Reserve unit, "C"
battery, Fourth 105 m.m. how
itzer battalion, have been pro
moted from private first class to
corporal. Of the group seven
were from Salem.
The Salem men are FredT.

H. Cater, 353 Leslie avenue;
George B. Crump, Route 4, Box
109-D; Melvin D. Goode, 600
Evans avenue; James H. Jaqua,
1331 Center street, and Joseph
C. Schlageter, 510 North 24th
street.
Others promoted to corporal
and coming from nearby towns
are Donald T. Equall of Wood
burn, Darrell E. Etzel of Stay
ton, Ernest E. Gaub of Dallas
and Ted R. White of Brooks.
