House guest for two weeks in Lack of Prize Still Mystery Why the coffee cake that Mrs. O. W. Olson, Silverton Route 1, Box 200 was the only baking entry of 25 varieties entered at the recent state fair failed to win a ribbon as all the other 24 did, remains as much a mystery today as it did nearly a month ago. Externally and internally ex amined, a complete cake brought to Salem Monday by her husband, Bill Olson, still retains its secret and sight and taste are both convincing that something might have been wrong, not with the cake, but with the Judges, who perhaps were satiated after sampling 1 her other entries. Bill Olson said confidential ly that his wife believed the cake to be the best of her culi nary art and she herself can not explain why it failed to receive even a white ribbon. Mrs. Olson sent word that she is very , proud of the elec tric refrigerator that her bak ing artistry won for her from the Johnson Appliance compa- the Le Baron Force home, 3940 Slate street, was Mrs. Fay Pop- plcton of Denver, Colo. ny and also expresses her ap preciation to Anne Hunt Mc Kennon, superintendent of the culinary department at the fair for the way she displayed all the baked food entries and be lieves It was a help to all the women in winning ribbons.
