Starts New Life Ernest Salisbury, 25, who walked out
of the madhouse where he fought hit way with music back
from insanity, is pictured in Detroit with Mary Kulaja, sup
erintendent of the Detroit Medical Hospital. He plans to earn
money by applying his knowledge of music therapy to pa
tients at the Institution. Salisbury was released from the
Wayne County General Hospital where he composed his

208 Enroll at
Salem Academy
Salem Academy reported an
enrollment of 208 students to
day as the school finally settled
down to its blackboard-ana-textbook
routine after three
days of registration and arrang
ing of classes.
Thirty-eight of the students
are freshmen, 48 sophomores, 59
juniors and 44 seniors. Seventh
and eighth grade students num
ber 19. This is the first year
that grade school age pupils
have been received at the West
Salem school.
Students from Salem, Silver
ton, Jefferson, Independence,
Aumsville, Portland, Turner,
Scio, Brooks, Dallas, Falls City
and Rickreall are registered at
the Academy, as well as one
from California and one from
Idaho.
Two school busses are used to
transport students to the school.
One bus makes a daily run to
Dallas, since 49 young people
from that city are attending the
Academy,
Church Society Meets
Falls City The WSCS held
its September meeting at the
Falls City Methodist church. A
no-host dinner was served. Mrs.
Fred Hughes, the president,
called a business meeting to or
der after dinner with business
and devotionals in charge of the
president.
