10 Capital Journal, Salem, Oregon, Thursday, May 1, 1947 East Salem Clubs Win Honors at Spring Fair East Salem, May 1 A sale was made this past week of one of East Salem's community stores. The store and filling station, just east of Swegle school, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Chester H. Schaberg was sold to Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Dart of Salem. Mr, and Mrs. Schaberg will be in the store for a few weeks. They plan on moving into Salem for a short time, while they are building a home on the acreage they still own in the district. Mr. and Mrs. Dart are doing some remodeling of the residence rooms of the store and on the garage repair shop. Summing up all the honors received by East Salem 4-H club members this past week leaders are very well pleased with hon ors won. Middle Grove received one grand champion reward, given to Delores Werner for the very best poster. , There were seven champions in clothing .II, my room, room improvement, cooking II, cooking III and knit ting to Sharon Laverty, Janice Scharf, Shirley Page, ' Arlyne Hilfikcr and Barbara Wlthrow, representing Auburn, Middle Grove and Rickey schools. There were 14 blue ribbon awards for posters, clothing IA, clothing II, Clothing III, our home, cooking III, clothing I handwork, knitting I and II giv en to Francis Eckstein, Maxine King, Joanne Fabry, Arlene Dalke, Joan Scharf, Joyce Kuinze, Frances Eckstein, Joyce Jensen, Greta Schrecengost and Val Jean Gosnell, Nola Jean Zo bel, La Vonne Yost, Barbara Van Loh and Vida Standley from Swegle, Auburn, Fruitland, Middle Grove and Rickey schools. There were 14 red ribbons In clothing IA, clothing II, our home, room improvement, cook ing II and clothing handwork, to Carolee McCracken, Joanne Grim, Shirley Brockart, Joan Chastain, Licille Hammer, Mag dalene Stahl, Carol Hilficker, Marvin Cage, Leonard Hammer, Carolee Cracken, John Gilman, Dale Van leave, Yvonne Goode from Auburn, Swegle, Fruitland and Middle Grove, and Rickey. There were 12 white ribbons for clothing IA, clothing .II, my room, room Improvement, cook ing III, camp cooking, clothing IA and cooking IA to Pauline Ingledue, Betty Henne, Marilyn Olson, Betty Sutter, Joanne King, Gloria Curtis, Jackie Lind berg, Wanda Kennedy, Allan Casey and Terry Shepherd from Auburn, Middle Grove and Swe gle. Some one from the 4-H club office will be present at Swegle Community club meet ing Friday night to make the awards of pins and certificates to Swegle pupils In the work this past year.
