the Salem senior high auditor
ium. These supernatural effects will
be created by a campus ma
gician, Bill Smith, whose serv
ices have been enlisted by Play
Director Mrs. Robert B. Albert.
Smith, who has been practicing
the art of sleiglft-of-hand for
about six years and who has ap
peared before servicemen and
at local schools, will call upon
his magic powers to add au
thenticity to the Noel Coward
play, which centers about the
unrealistic and humorous mcl
dents caused by an uninhibited
spiritualist when she "calls
back" a spirit from the other
world.

high noon. Miss Ruth Edna Zahler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
John Zahler of Mill street, became the bride of Harold Ray Dick
man, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dickman of Silverton. Rev. Arthur
Charles Bates read the lines of the single ring ceremony before
an altar banked with white and-
gold chrysanthemums, greenery
and flanked by lighted tapers in
candelabra.
The bride in a white after
noon gown, carrying a white
Bible topped with a white or
chid, was attended by her sister.
Miss Frances Zahler, dressed
similarly and wearing a shoul
der corsage of while gardenias
surrounded by red rosebuds.
Edwin Zahler, brother of the
bride, was best man for the
bridegroom.

bride, wore a brown, gold trim

sages of Talisman roses.
For traveling the bride chose
a gold dress with brown trim,

Reveals Troth
On Saturday
Romantic news revealed Sat
urday afternoon was the engage
ment of Miss Dolores Clement,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nor-
ris D. Clement, and Richard J.
Sullivan, grandson of Mrs. J. A.
McCarthy.
The news was told at a party
for which Miss Doris Dixon was
hostess at her home in Beach
avenue. The, party honored her
birthday anniversary. Their
names on napkins revealed the
announcement of the couple's
betrothal. No date has been set
for the wedding.
Miss Clement is a graduate of
Salem high school and is now
taking nurses training at St.
Vincent's School of Nursing in
Portland. Her fiance served in
the navy 3V4 years, part of
which time he attended Annap
olis. He is now with the Blue
Lake Producers' co-op.
Cards were in play during the
afternoon and a dessert lunch

Rites Scene
January 15, at 8 o'clock, the
home of Mr. and Mrs. James T.
Noble was scene of the marriage
of Mrs. Stella Gould, daughter of
Emmet Mason and the son of
the Nobles, Earl.
Rev. J. M. Goodheart per
formed the double-ring rites
before a gathering of the
couple's friends and relatives.
Lighting the altar tapers were
Miss Joanne Fry and Miss Irene
Cain, nieces of the bride and
bridegroom.
As bridesmaid was a cousin
of the bride, Mrs. Leo Folz and
best man for his brother was
James G Noble.
At the reception which fol
lowed the wedding, Mrs. John
Fry cut the wedding cake and
Mrs. Reva Davidson presided
at the coffee urn. Serving were

Following a' wedding trip to
the Oregon beaches, the couple

under the president, Miss Jean
Taylor, met Monday evening at
the North River road home of
Miss Ann Huston, daughter of

Under discussion were various
projects of the group, including a
benfit tea in mid-March. Ap
pointed chairman was Miss Vir
ginia Case. A donation was vot
ed the March of Dimes.
Following the business meet
ing, the evening was spent in
